Great Sloncombe Farm
Reviewed 30 July 2014 via mobile

Lovely secluded countryside 13th century farmhouse. Friendly family run B&B. Beautiful country farmhouse with everything you could imagine on a fully functioning farm. Food excellent, everything home grown or sourced from local suppliers. Most memorable two night stay for my cousins wedding at Bovey Castle and my Mothers 70th Birthday celebrations. Highly recommended. Keep up the good work Trudy and family. From The Nisbets Ann & Adam. & The Thomsons Janet & Arthur. Torrance near Glasgow. Scotland.

Stayed for a week with my mother, and we really enjoyed. Lovely peaceful setting, very comfortable spacious room, and a breakfast to die for...I've never had bacon so good!

Trudie was friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed seeing the working farm too. Thoroughly recommend

We have just returned from a wonderful week-long break at Great Sloncombe Farm. This is a beautiful and very old farmhouse, with a host of beams on the ceilings and low doors, and oozes charm throughout. We stayed in the Clover room, and found it to be spotless throughout our stay, and with the most comfortable bed we have experienced anywhere away from home. The breakfasts were the perfect start to the day, with all the options anyone could wish for, and beautifully cooked and presented. All this is down to Trudie, who made us feel very welcome, works very hard on behalf of her guests and is a mine of knowledge about the area and the scope of activities and sights available. Stay here for a peaceful, relaxing and get-away-from-it-all experience, we hope to return in the not too distant future.

Just back from a great 5 day break at Great Sloncombe Farm. Trudie and family were fantastic hosts and made us (and our dog and bikes) very welcome. Her breakfasts were delicious and the farm surroundings very comfortable...we hope to be back soon.

This is my first time here. I can now see why my father comes back year after year! The accomodation is extremely homely. Everything is spotlessly clean. Northing was too much trouble to make our stay more comfortable. It is an amazing place to chill out and de-stress. We're alredy booked for next year.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent.

Great Sloncombe Farm gave us the perfect base for a family Spring holiday retreat (5 of us, 3 adolescent daughters), close enough from Exeter for my university daughter to join us despite exam revisions, and yet very much in the countryside, and at the edge of Dartmoor for our daily explorations. Trudie was a great host, and we loved her generous breakfasts. The farm is very old, with uneven steps and ceilings (careful your head!), charmingly decorated. It's a working farm with horses and chicken, which adds to its genuine character. I would be very happy to return.

Room Tip: We had 3 rooms and they were all very good, with their own individual character.

Had a fantastic 1 night stay at Great Sloncombe Farm last year (apologies for the late review!) was visiting the Contemporary Craft Fair in nearby Bovey Tracey so sadly only had time for 1 night.
The bed was soooo comfortable, stayed in the twin room, lovely and cosy with a very homely feel. Breakfast in the morning, Full English of course on a farm, was easily one of the best I've ever had! wish I'd stayed longer.
Set in such a beautiful location with easy access to Dartmoor for walking and sightseeing, would highly recommend.
