We have just returned from a short trip to Dartmoor where we were lucky enough to come across the White Hart in Moretonhampstead which had apparently just re-opened its doors to the public following a change of ownership & refurbishment.
The hotel lies right in the centre of the village & whilst not possessing its own car park, we found the public car park only a short walk away.
The welcome was warm & friendly & we were shown to our room by the manageress of the hotel who obviously takes a great deal of pride in both the work that has gone into the hotels refurbishment & the place itself. Our room was large & bright with windows overlooking the rooftops of the village, both the bedroom & bathroom were spotless & very well equipped.
We had decided on the dinner bed & breakfast tariff & made our way to the comfortable & beautifully furnished reception/lounge area where we offered drinks & our menus. We were delighted to see that the DB&B price included a choice of the full menu with none of the more usual allowances or restrictions. The menu was well thought through & varied, with the emphasis on locally sourced ingredients & whilst making no pretensions towards 'fine dinning' the food we had was accurately cooked & truly excellent, the service was friendly & attentive throughout.
We left the following morning following a good night’s sleep & excellent ‘Devon’ breakfast & very much look forward to returning to the White Hart.
