Would agree with most of the reviews.....good little chippy, cooks fresh to order which is great....staff friendly....food reasonable...chips good, fish fresh but batter a bit too crispy bordering on hard....

However ideal fare for eating on the seafront!

“Fine for the basics”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

We ate in as couldn't get in to the other chip shop. We found portion size to be fine. This isn't a grand place, it's a chippy. We all enjoyed our food (2 adults and 2 kids). We'd eat here again.

“I'd look for another Fish and Chips place first.”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

The staff were helpful but the food wasn't up to much and the menu wasn't accurate with what was on offer. My fish batter was terrible and the amount of actual fish under there was tiny. Portions were ok, but not much else postive to say I'm afraid.

“Traditional seaside fare.”
Reviewed 11 August 2014

I remember coming here as a kid, some 20 years ago it was good, and really nothing has changed. Good portions of chips and whole fillets of cod, there's just no samphire or sicilian lemon with it maybe?
Lyme Regis has since become very gentrified with tourists and the swell of the well pocket linted compare this with the 5* restaurants nearby. Elsewhere in Lyme, you're looking about £10+ just for a main course, some restaurants offer tiny takeaway pizzas for £9.
But here, the place is overspilling out the door and even the locals eat here, so there can't be anything wrong with it. The staff are efficient, the biggest hold up is customers deciding/paying.
Lyme is becoming unaffordable for eating out and this place still represents good value.
It's just British traditional Fish and Chips, it's not an artisian restaurant.

“Good Chippy”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

Pouring with rain and with kids we needed to eat in and although they only have about ten tables we managed to squeeze in. With an experienced and picky chef and fish fryer in the family it had to be good food (see review of Mary Janes!) and it was. Chips were the nicest we'd had in a long time, good fish, really friendly and helpful staff. Large portions too. They don't take card payment but after our last chippy experience we knew to check that out first and there are cash points nearby. I can see others have not had such a good experience but thought this review may be useful - also, you can see at first glance there are no customer toilets and its a bit much to expect to use the staff ones - we took ours to the public ones next to the beach!
