“Good Pub Grub”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

We ate in this pub for 3 nights during our stay in Lyme Regis. We found the food to be very well cooked, good portion sizes and quite a good menu for pub given the number of 'specials' on the board. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Probably more of an eating pub than a drinking pub. Definitely good value and not too expensive. I liked the blackboards showing the prices for the different types and measures so you knew how much a glass of wine was before ordering, and my husband enjoyed the Palmers best bitter.

“Definitely steered in the right direction!”
Reviewed 2 July 2014

If you want good value, well prepared pub food during your visit to this lovely Dorset port, then the Pilot Boat Inn is a safe bet. Staff are friendly and there is an informal atmosphere that welcomes families, couples - anyone really. Good choice and daily Specials add a bit extra. Mains were better than the desserts - which were OK, but not lip-smacking. Good location, close to the beach - you could do a lot worse - and there are places in Lyme that are!

“Good pub; good food”
Reviewed 2 July 2014

We used the Pilot Boat a couple of times during our latest visit to Lyme. There was a good set menu, plus a number of 'specials' that changed during the week - so a good choice of meals. The food was very well cooked, piping hot, and served on hot plates (something of a rarity these days). An excellent homely pub with a welcoming atmosphere. Beer's good too.

“Good fish”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

Visited early evening so few other customers so little atmosphere. service pleasant and efficient enough and our fish (baked whole plaice) well cooked and presented. Would give 3.5 stars if possible as above average really but just not in any way oustanding. Reasonable prices.

“Local delights”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

The outside menu board doesn't do them justice. The specials board is a hidden treasure. They service great local food, well cooked and at reasonable prices. Good friendly, service.
