Our book club read Tracy Chevalier’s Remarkable Creatures which is about Mary Anning's life and her talent for finding fossils. Clearly the remarkable creatures include both Mary Anning and the dinosaurs.
As we all live within 10 miles of Lyme Regis, I suggested that a walking tour of the Lyme Regis that Mary Anning would have known. Natalie was very patient while we booked and then rearranged several dates for our walk.
The walk was great, Natalie is a delightful and knowledgeable guide and she showed us things that even those of us who know Lyme well had never noticed before. The walk was about 1 ½ hours and not too strenuous. All in all, good entertainment for all ages.
If you hurry, the original fossil ichthyosaur found by Mary Anning is in the Museum for the 200th anniversary of its discovery.
