My friends and I stayed at the London Guesthouse when we went to a wedding at River Cottage. The owners Nick and Sarah made us feel most welcome and looked after us incredibly well. The Guesthouse was very homely and the view from the garden was beautiful. Thank you for a lovely stay!
a late review, as we stayed at the beginning of the month for the fossil festival. Myself, husband and daughter absolutely loved The London, and Nick and Sarah . Nothing was too much , such lovely people and it was an honour to meet them. they made our daughter who has additional needs feel very special, and gave her one of their own fossils and fossil book which made her day. The accomodation was fabulous, so very spacious. Can not say enough about this fabulous place. oh, and the garden, beautiful! Thanks so very much
I don't think I have ever experienced anything quite like the London Inn. I hardly know how to sum up the delights of our short stay here. We were greeted by Nick, the owner, and taken to a lovely room set in superb gardens overlooking the sea. Nothing was too much trouble for him or his partner Sarah no matter what. We always looked forward to breakfast during our stay, it was so nicely laid out and presented, with plentiful provisions and a good variety to choose from. We actually felt very pampered and so well looked after. We wouldn't want to stay anywhere else if we ever visited this area again. Just wonderful.
Staying in Lyme for a wedding on Bank Holiday weekend we chose The London as previous reviews said new owners had taken it over.
From the moment we arrived and met Nick, he and his partner Sarah made us feel so welcome and looked after. Not a single question was answered with anything but a yes and a smile.
The rooms are spacious, not only an en suite but we also had a sofa and coffee table etc, made the room feel really cozy and we ended each evening on a sofa with a wine.
The garden of The London is it's trump card. Breathtaking. The garden looks out over the bay and the cliffs of the Jurassic coastline. You'd pay twice this for any other venue in the area with such views.
Can heartily recommend.
We stayed for one night on 26th April on our journey home from Weymouth, back to Merseyside. I used to visit Lyme Regis as a child and so couldn't wait to come back. It was just myself and my partner and we had booked in advance by email. We received a genuinely warm welcome from the owners, and although we had expected check in to be at 3pm, the owner advised us our room was all ready for us. The check in was smooth and we were then shown to our room, after being given a lovely map of the area. We were pleased to see that our room gave us access to the fabulous garden with views across to Charmouth and Lyme Bay. There was plenty of seating too incase you were lucky enough to be there on a warm day. The room itself was lovely, warm and cosy with tea, coffee, milk in the fridge and bottled water. There was also a flatscreen tv and a nice bathroom to boot. We had a chat with the owners and then went about our day in Lyme Regis. We had been advised that there was a continental breakfast available but we did not have any of this as we needed to get back on the road for our journey home. However the next morning, the owners offered for us to take some bread and pastries with us, which I thought was extremely kind and thoughtful. Overall, it was a beautiful guest house and Lyme regis is a wonderful town. We hope to return the same time next year for my birthday. Highly recommended.
We stayed here for 1 night, Saturday 6th October.We were made to feel very welcome. Nick showed us to our room. We were delighted to find that we had free access to the lovely garden which has ample seating and great views along the coast.The room was warm and comfortable and as well as tea and coffee there was bottled water, biscuits and sachets of hot chocolate. Breakfast was good with plenty of cereals (all good quality), nice bread, pastries, juice, yoghurt, fruit salad, ham and a selection of cheeses. There were pots of jam and marmalade on each table and we were offered a choice of freshly made tea or coffee. Parking is safe and the property is just a few minutes walk from the shops and harbour. We were able to leave the car for a while after checking out-much appreciated. It is also helpful that you can come and go without disturbing the owners as the rooms are separate from the main house.This is a good-value place to stay, made special by the use of the garden. We wish Nick and Sarah all the best for the future.
