Went there after a museum guided fossil walk, which was brilliant. the guys love to show what the found and prepared, and in the unlikelya event that you found nothing, you can go for a fossil souvenir.

Paddy and Chris are knowledgable, amiable and run a great, safe walk suitable for all the family against the fabulous scenic backdrop of Lyme Regis. They also have a wonderful cave-shop (underneath Alice's Teddy Bear Shop - also highly recommended!) where they identify, prepare and sell (very reasonable) fossils. What's not to like?

My grandson and I spent an enjoyable time looking at the fossils on display and talking to Paddy and Chris. They both are very knowledgable about fossils. If you have the time it is worth going on one of their fossil finding walks. Had a great time and look forward to the next visit

Following a guided fossil walk by Paddy which was excellent, we took one of our fossil finds to the workshop where Paddy spent 30 minutes cleaning it up and transforming it into something really worthy of display - such a great guy and so knowledgeable & enthusiastic. We would thoroughly recommend the guided fossil walk booked through the Philpot Museum.

My daughter and I have visited Lyme Regis 7 times in the last 18 months. We popped into the Fossil Workshop on our very first trip and new that we had come across something a bit special. Paddy Howe and Chris Andrew are two local guys with an absolute wealth of knowledge when it comes to fossils. They are not only the official geologists to the local museum, to which they have made a huge contribution in the way of their finds, but they also run fossil hunting trips on the near by beach.
Their trips are very popular and entertaining, if you are planning a trip to Lyme then this is one not to miss, other trips are available but this one is the best by far. Once you have gathered together at a pre arranged meeting place, you will be given a quick safety talk and shown what to look for. It is then down to you to do the rest with both Paddy and Chris on hand to help. They have such a wealth of knowledge that you could easily spend a week with them and still come back for more.
Every person we have spoken to has said how much they have enjoyed their trips and would be back for another go, not just adults but children to.
