Very friendly staff and £3 will get you a large thick tasty milk shake!

Also really impressed that although the café closed at 5pm, unknowingly we were sat in the outdoor seating area still enjoying our drinks and there was no sense of urgency to get us out.

Definitely recommend a stop off, especially a good stop off point if you are staying at the top of the hill!

Had tea, coffee and home made scones in this delightful little cafe. The ambiance and service were excellent. Went back every day to savour the range the fine range of cakes and scones which were all home made and excellent value for money.

We happen to come across this tea room tucked behind the Post Office. We arrived shortly before 3pm on a Saturday afternoon feeling hungry ! This fitted the bill perfectly. A good lunch well presented, tasty and good value. Friendly service.

We are local but don't get out much so haven't been for a while. The cafe is very small and decorated in a vintage style, which somewhat adds to the ambience.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable. We sat outside and ordered 2 drinks & 2 light lunches followed by a cream tea.
The food was very nice, and I would have given 5 stars but we had to wait a long time to be served both drinks, and food despite there only being a handful of other customers.
This was a shame, but I would give them the benefit of the doubt and return, and would recommend.

I am a local and the Penny Black is on my list of regular places to go. I love the jacket potato with melted cheese, ham and salad. They are a lovely friendly family and all of the food is fresh and the daily specials look amazing but I can't get away from the Spud!!! My daughter loves their milk shakes.
