We've been visiting The Alex for years, so when we decided to get married I set my heart on having the wedding here.
Emails went unanswered and so we chased them up and arranged a stay there so that we could look around and discuss our plans. It was my birthday and I was viewing a potential wedding venue. What could go wrong? The Events Manager made no effort to get to know us or our plans and reeled off a list of things we couldn't do. She was negative, patronising and unhelpful. She didn't have any ideas or solutions to how we may like to do things. She also assumed we would have the wedding breakfast somewhere else, so not exactly commercial. When I said I would like to have the wedding breakfast there her first words were 'you need to be out by 1730'. We've spoken to the Manager but he hasn't responded as promised, sadly we can't trust the staff with our wedding after this experience. We've been met with a sarcastic greeting from the Events Manager this morning, shouted across reception. All I can say is I hope that no-one makes her or her family feel so undeserving of their wedding.More
