We spent one night here in wonderful surroundings with a fantastic view over the gardens to the sea. Judging from the corridor layout it seems most rooms share this view. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The room was roomy and we particularly appreciated the shower controls being explained.
There was no air conditioning but large opening windows and sea breezes made this superfluous. The wifi was good and easy to log in.
Unfortunately we had dinner elsewhere. Next time we shall dine at the hotel.
Breakfast was superb. My West Country Breakfast was superb and my wife commented on the moistness of her kipper. Even the toast was outstanding.
Car parking is limited and you may need to leave your key at reception and be prepared for some shuffling when you want to get out but they seem to get everybody in.
We plan to return later this year.

We stayed for one night at this Hotel on our way to Cornwall. The setting is stunning and we had a lovely well appointed room over looking the sea and harbour. From the moment we arrived to our departure there was attention to detail. The staff are extremely caring and well trained. Dinner was outstanding, beautifully served in the very attractive restaurant. We opted for the shell fish platter Langoustine, Crab and lobster. straight from the sea, delicious. Breakfast the following morning was piping hot and well served. There were plenty of efficient staff on duty. The parking is a triumph, they need an award for the way it is handled. A small area becomes a safe haven for cars just leave your keys at reception and the staff magically move everyone around and accommodate all. Brilliant! Thank you for a lovely stay. We will be back.

Room tip: Sea view on the second floor, remember no lift, fabulous view.

Really enjoyed our visit. The Alexandra is perfectly situated, overlooking the main Lyme Regis and promenade. The Alexandra enjoys a splendid garden, in which many happy holidaymakers relax and enjoy afternoon tea.
Food is good , particularly the sumptuous breakfast. My vegetarian brother didn't particularly enjoy his vegetarian evening meal - however, he really liked the vegetarian breakfast.
Most staff are helpful and kind, and bedrooms are comfortable. Indeed, the decor of the hotel is very classy - good quality furnishings. Lots of nice quirky touches , such as a working telescope in the lounge.
If you enjoy classic British style, this is an excellent choice.

Room tip: All rooms are good. We had a nice seaview room . My brother's single room was not sea-view, but he still found it perfectly comfortable.

We had Four nights here in room 17 overlooking the garden and with lovely sea views, the room was large with a door straight out into the garden. We moved rooms on our last evening (known at booking ) to room 39 This room was not as large as the previous but fine, it also had a garden door plus it's own patio with a table and two chairs. We spent everyday just sitting on the lovely sofa's and armchairs on the lawn enjoying the views. You can walk to the Cobb in a matter of minuets through the gardens with lots of places to sit and watch the world go by. We ate in the Conservatory and the Dining Hall with lovely views from both, the food was excellent and the service matched. Thankyou Alexandra for a lovely stay.

Room tip: Room 17 has garden and sea views

The rooms here are well appointed with lovely modern bathrooms, although somewhat at the expense of room size. We upgraded to sea view rooms which were very good although warm on a sunny day. 'Proper' hangers, hair dryers and bathrobes are included. Breakfast included a wide selection of cooked options and dinner in the conservatory was delicious. The service throughout and especially by the waiting staff, was impeccable.
Beds were immensely comfortable, the garden has great sun loungers and the location and views are superb.

Room tip: Room 5 has amazing views along the coast
