As a previous reviewer has stated, this restaurant seems to have either very excellent reviews, or very poor.
Firstly, the car park is not very large, and guests are requested to leave car keys with reception, Im guessing to enable them to shuffle cars around to allow other guests to leave.
Parking outside on the road is completely hit or miss, on a very sunny afternoon in June the roadside parking was full and the chance to find a space would be down to your luck on the day. Lyme Regis is quite hilly so take this into account if anyone in your group has mobility issues. Luckily for us we seem to have hit it just at the right time.
Having read the reviews and viewed the hotels website we decided to take Sunday lunch at the Alexandra. The sample menu looked very tempting and I have to say we were not disappointed at all.
Being a very nice sunny afternoon Dinner was served in the conservatory, offering spendid views our across the croquet lawn and across Lyme Bay.
The staff were very pleasant and attentive, and at great pains to ensure that evrything was ok. Maybe this is a result of comments left by previous reviewers ?
Between our party we tried a few of the starters, and a few of the desserts and all were excellent and would highly recommend them, we couldnt settle to identify a particular favourite. For our main course we all settled on the excellent Exmoor Park beef, I cant say this was cooked exactly to our liking as the least cooking on offer was medium-rare where usually we would all have opted for rare or blue. However, that said, it was a very enjoyable meal and I would certainly recommend a visit to this restaurant.
