Met by the proprietor and his wife who had much local knowledge and advised us of the best places to go - also went to a lot of trouble to make our stay pleasant and cheerful.
Breakfast were good and the childrens tastes were all catered for.
Room was clean but the shower area was small.
Visitors book full of glowing testimonies from repeat guests. We would visit them again.

Room Tip: if second room available and you have large family book this as well, as the rooms are very reasonab...

We stayed one night at this extraordinary bad B&B! When we arrived in the evening the Room wasn't prepared in spite of having booked it the day before. The first impression, while waiting in the breakfast room, made us becoming more and more feeling uncomfortable. Every thing we touched felt like if there was glue on it, every surface of tables ect. Looked very dirty and the furniture was looking very old, shabby and was covered with dust. The biscuit we get offered with the tea, was wrapped in a paper wich got stucked on our fingers immedeatly- it seem to very old!
In the room, offered for 60 £ per night, we found a big whole and 2 badly damaged edges at the bed. The tea and coffee Making facilities were in an undiscribable condition, covered not only with dust...!!!
Same thing with the Holy Bible- at the back it was covered with green spots, wich didn't belong to the book itself... Horrible!!!
The whole room was in an unacceptable condition, and the bathroom made us feel sure to become ill and to get in danger of damaging our health: the shower walls and the edges were sparkled with black and other spots, wich had grown in the wet clima. The handbassin had never been cleared up from below, even the toilet bowl at its back... The whole floor was ugly and really dirty!
The sad climax of our stay were our having a look of the offered food, standing in the breakfast room. We found invalid mustard and a product, similar to Marmite, was invalid since April 2006, but still waiting for us to meet at breakfast in the next morning. That the whole house was smelling awful modering and at old oil was the smallest problem we had. Because of high season we could'nt find an alternative hotel or B&B and so we had to stay there at night. Of course we could'nt take breakfast there under this conditions, so we can't say how it would be, but we could suggest: check the valid dates!
Resume: we had traveled a lot through Britain an we get to knew in any case acceptable, good or very high standard equipped B&Bs. We never found a place like this and we don't want anybody else to make that bad experiences or to risk health! we think, it's very important to warn everbody to stay at this house. Don't do it!!!

We have just returned from a one night stay in the Mayflower Cottage, Lyme Regis. We are lucky it was only a one night stay! The rooms were very out of date, and shabby-looking. Bad beds, and a musty smell made it worse. It got even worse when we tried to use the showers and bath in the upstairs room and downstairs....one diddn't work, and one cut out on us fully twice, both when one of us was fully soaped up! The taps also stopped in this instance. The owner said he didn't know why this happened...not good enough in our view. Breakfast tasted of old oil, and cerials were very stale. And to make it worse, the other room was occupied by an old couple and their dog!! They took the dog out to pee in the night, waking us all up, whistling and yelling. Then proceded to leave their door open and turn the telly up full boar.
Not worth any money, let alone fifty quid per room.
