Well what a smashing place to spend time with family. Im over from Australia and wanted to stay somewhere with history, near the sea and quintessential english, and the sundial ticked all those boxes and more.
We had a mix of generations staying from 24 to 59 and we all thought the property was lovely. There was a fight over who was staying in the front bedrooms. Fortunately as I booked, I had first choice and the chance to go to sleep and wake up listening to the gentle waves.
The house has everything you could ask for and we spent some pleasant evenings sipping wine on the patio over looking the water.
You could walk to everything in Lyme easily and the up hill walk to the car park was good to burn off those calories from the ice creams.
I hope we will have the opportunity to return one day.
Beautiful looking Wragstone House looking out across Lyme Bay and a small stone throw from the beach. Quiet even on a Seasonal Saturday.
Quirky arrangement of rooms and facilities and not always convenient.
White goods provided but in need of a service. Beds and TV room comfortably furnished.
If Nine people renting you would have to know each other well!
Great location straight on the beach, amazing views of the beautiful jurassic coast, useful storage in the cellar for kayaks, great secluded sitting area outside the front, which is perfect for people watching. I have looked enviously at the sundial house for many years, as does everyone who passes and was very pleased to be able to enjoy a lovely weekend with family.
The people walking on the Parade stop to stare at Sundial, it's quite breathtaking and stands out. Everything about the inside does too, and how you are welcomed and treated by Mark and the owners. It's on the beach, the views are epic and you can hear the waves as you doze off. its a very special place.
Anyone who knows Lyme Regis will be familiar with this 4 storey Arts and Crafts house known as The Sundial, situated on Marine Parade, as near to the sea as it's possible to be. We were 6 in number, ranging from 90 to 30 years of age.
If you'd like to stay in a house of historical interest with uninterrupted views of the sea and the Cobb from most rooms - not forgetting the balcony where we sat in the sun and sipped a few glasses, even in November - then this place is a gem.
The house is efficiently centrally heated, with cosy sitting areas and best of all, we were lulled to sleep at night by the sound of the waves. A truly magical experience.
