“overnight business stay”

have to say that really impressed with this hotel for the price i paid, staff were some of the most helpful and jolly employee i have come across, The Hotel is very individual and has a lovely character, would recommend for any type of stay, based right in the centre of Blandford with free parking. Food was good not great but good for the price paid and breakfast was better than average

Room Tip: i stayed in room no 7 which was a twin with very very soft beds, to soft for my liking but a nice ro...

We stayed in the family suite and it was huge, 2 rooms with interconnecting door, 1 double and 1 twin bedded room, 1 bathroom, and masses of space. If you look closely you can see bits need updating or finessing but all in all quite beautiful. The room being on the main road through blandford and the windows needing to be opened as hot ( not that closing them made a huge difference) it was noisy no air con would mean it's the lesser of the 2 evils. Staff friendly. Breakfast lovely continental spread and cooked was fresh and nice but don't leave breakfast until last minute as took 30 minutes to arrive.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your uncomfortable beds. We are currently part way through a program replacing all our mattresses with Sealy Pillow Honister
Mattresses - these are the same matresses that are used in the White House and are known for being incredibly comfortable thanks to the extra pillow top on the mattress - we will ensure that these rooms are done as soon as possible.

Having stayed in the Crown on a regular basis over several years I had become used to a high level of service and a feeling of being valued as a customer. However, on my current visit I was informed that drinks would not be served after 11 pm. On querying this the manager explained that the owning brewery thought we, as guests, may upset the local community. We were not to be served drinks, not even as room service. A broad brush indeed. We shall take our custom elsewhere in future. A very pleasant location spoiled by a strange set of rules....

Room Tip: Go somewhere else if you like to make your own decisions

If you want a fantastic lunch that is not expensive, then The Crown is great...especially the veggie burgers which is just fantastic. But if you are a lover of the classic creamy Italian pudding panna cotta, then don't order The Crown's version of this divine pudding. If it's on the menu, then I always have it so have a fair idea what it should be. What arrived was nothing more than jelly (yes, jelly!!) with berry fruits set in it and a miniscule clotted cream-like layer on top. The only thing that resembled panna cotta in any way was the scoop of vanilla icecream that came with it which was delicious. This for £6.50!

So enjoy a lovely lunch in a nice location but if you are a lover, then don't, you will be so disappointed.

Down in deepest Dorset looking for a place to stay we happened upon the little Gem of a place. Regrettably it was almost midnight when we arrived so couldn't appreciate what a wonderful place the Crown was. The night porter was very helpful, the rooms clean with fresh bedding and all you would expect. We slept like logs on very comfortable beds. Breakfast was waitress service ( who couldn't have been more helpful or pleasant) with a wide selection of breakfast dishes, cereals, toast, full English cold cuts etc. and surprisingly a full honeycomb which tasted amazing. My only regret was that we arrived late and tired and were unable to sample the selection of beers available in the bar. Next time and there will be a next time we'll arrive earlier and enjoy all that the Crown and Blandford has to offer. Unfortunately I haven't given the cleanliness a full 5 star rating simply because we initially had to share the bath with a big but friendly spider who I caught in a glass and promptly showed the door to. So if you see him say hi from me and tell him it was nothing personal.
