“Nice little find, homemade and delicious”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2014

We were on our way back from a short stay in Whitecroft Gloucestershire when we came upon this café attached to the old prison and we are so glad we found it. We had our little Jack Russell dog with us and we were able to sit outside in the grounds with him on a lead and enjoy a lovely lunch.

We had fresh pea soup with lovely warm bread and my husband had a piece of treacle tart and I had the most delicious lemon and poppy seed cake. I chatted with the lady who was behind the counter and she told me she made the soup and the cakes, she even gave me a quick resume of the ingredients for the cake which I shall be making today.

We are planning a day out in the Cotswold soon (weather permitting) and we will certainly be calling in to The Cotswold Lion Café. It's opening hours are Daily from 9.30am to 4.30pm try it you won't be disappointed

“A lovely little cafe, with lots of history thrown in!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 April 2014

Ideal for a hearty breakfast or mid-day meal or snack! In an ideal spot, on the Fosse way, you don't have to go searching around country lanes for sustenance! We visited on Easter Sunday where they were offering a pork Sunday roast lunch with an Easter Egg hunt in the outside eating area! You can visit the Old Prison, attached to the Café, for free, it's very informative! As is the display of all the Cotswolds has to offer! We highly recommend this café and mini museum for all ages!

“In need of coffee and cake”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 April 2014

Having completed a walk around the nearby Sherborne Estate we ventured on through Nortleach in search of sustainence. We travelled through with little luck and came across this place as we were thinking we would have to venture further on. The homemade food was delicious and staff very friendly and welcoming. As an added bonus there is the opportunity to have a wander around the old prsion cells and also learn some of the history of the area and its development. Thoroughly recommended for a stop off.

“Go and have a cuppa with the warders!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 April 2014 via mobile

If the fare here is prison grub then penal servitude has just become inviting!! A welcome haven on the Fosse Way where you can enjoy refreshing coffee, tea and mineral waters. Snacks and light meals are available. Louisa's home made cakes are scrumptious and not to be missed.
