This Restaurant and Pub used to be one of our favourites as it is within an easy walk of our home. They often do '2 for 1' deals, making a meal out excellent value in the past.
However, recent staff changes seem to have resulted in dramatic lowering of standards. We ordered cheese & sundried tomato garlic bread as a starter to share. A few mouthfuls confirmed that it was inadequately reheated from frozen as there were hot & cold spots.
Our charming waitress was most charming, apologised and replaced it. Unfortunately this was also insufficiently cooked, so after a fer 'tester' mouthfuls, we left it.
Our main courses were adequate & we were not charged for the bread.
That night we both became ill with stomach pains, following with upset stomachs for the next 2 days. My husband went back to The Britannia the next day, asked to see the Manager and explained that the inadequately cooked food had caused us to become ill. He was disinterested, insisting that the kitchen equipment was new and he 'only had our word for it'.
We will not be going back whilst this person remains in charge, as however new their equipment, staff are clearly not trained to use it effectively.
