Always a staple stop for lunch with my wife. Casual but well maintained. The food is mustard and always exciting and perfect. Great food. The skate wings are sublime if you fancy a menu speciality !
Stop by, take time out of your day to appreciate the best on offer around Stroud and district.....

Intended to eat here on a sunny morning, just one table already occupied.
We arrived as another couple entered the garden, after 10 minutes their order was taken, after another 10minutes, we had not even been acknowledged, never mind been offered a menu, or asked what we wanted!! So we walked out and went elsewhere. Pity

Many moons ago this restaurant was called "Williams Kitchen".William has now sold up and this restaurant is back to top form. Its more a restaurant than a shop these days and the new owners might wish to consider a name change.
Its the sourcing of the freshest fish that makes the food hall(sorry restaurant!) stand out.Skate wing needs to be really fresh to work and this caper laden wing was just off the boat. Perfectly cooked.
The Turbot and scallops were equally fresh.
I like to see fish soup on a fish restaurant menu as it usually means the chef is using the bones to make stock and has an outlet for those two day old portions. The fish soup here had that deep intense flavour which shows the guys and gals at the stoves are on the top of their game.
Now opening in the evening(Fridays) so will return soon.

This wonderful lunchtime restaurant is now open on Friday evenings. It has a charming atmosphere created by the welcoming Sue and the new owner Helen Playne.
We started with Tuna Sashimi followed by Whole Pan-Fried Dover Sole. Both dishes were superb.
Watching the other diners food pass by convinced us that we should return to work our way through the menu.
There is no need to make the pilgrimage to Padstow and the prices are very reasonable for the quality.

As far as the food goes you won’t be disappointed, we were a party of 9 and nobody had anything but good words.

I had fish and chips, I know it sounds boring but I love really crispy battered fish and they didn't disappoint.

That said the service can be erratic, for instance remember what you've ordered otherwise something might be missing such as the biscuits with the "Pana Cotta".

Depending on your view the ambiance isn't great being at the back of the shop it has to my mind too much the feel of a cafe.

Overall though Williams is well worth a visit.
