I came here with my friend we had not booked but they managed to find us a table there was not much on the menu that caught my eye, however the three courses that i did have were delightful and my friend agreed. We will visit again

The venue was chosen by my son and his bride to be for their wedding this April, and what a super venue it was. Starting off with a 'family and friends supper' on what was a very busy evening in the restaurant on the Friday evening, the food was excellent and the service was extremely efficient. Every member of staff was very friendly and helpful, and really made everyone feel welcome.
The accommodation was very pleasant and comfortable, and arranged very sensitively for us, taking in to account the needs of a one year old to a great grandma, and lots of us in between. We stayed in the older Mill House, which suited us perfectly: a 'boutique hotel' style and atmosphere with its flag stone floors (downstairs) and thoughtful and comfortable furnishings.
The wedding day itself was lovely, and again, the food was excellent, and the service seamless.
This hotel cannot be faulted on its staff and customer service . . Excellent,

Room Tip: Mill house was lovely, good sizes rooms and 'boutique' style atmosphere.

Extremely tastey food , good service time! Staff are very friendly and they were very thankful for the 10% tip that we left. The two of us ate here on a long weekend visitto the area, we booked the table at 4pm for 7pm, and the restaurant were very accomodating. The setting of the restaurant is beautiful!

Stayed here on Saturday night. Room was pleasant enough having got upgraded to the Garden Suite (Room 35) and no issue with traffic noise from the room like some have reported. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is fairly pretty but spoilt a bit by the local surroundings and the proximity of the main road. Food was quite disappointing - not as varied as the menu that we looked at on the web and it was quite bland and uninteresting - perfectly edible but nothing to write home about to be honest. However, as a place to stay between two days of walking it served our purpose well enough.

Room Tip: Go for the garden house which appears to be quieter than the main part of the hotel

We stayed in Room 16, traffic noise was AWFUL (we do live in a quiet village).... kept waking all night thinking lorries /cars were crashing into the building as they braked or accelerated away from a junction.......... Characterful room with beams etc. Hate to think what it would be like in summer with windows open.......We stayed here overnight as attending a wedding in the area.Convenient.

Room Tip: Away from main road side

Nailsworth is a pretty little town, surrounded by glorious hills and a particularly steep windy road into town locally called the "W". The A46 runs through the town upon which stands the "Egypt Mill Hotel" As the name implies this was once a cotton mill and much of the original machinery is on view including a big mill wheel. Entrance (from a spacious car park) is via an attractive bridge over the mill race and immediately you arrive at a most welcoming bar, and if you're really lucky the hotel's ambassador, Victoria will be there to greet you! The rooms are very comfortable, some displaying the buildings origins, heavy beams etc. B&B is around £80 and full board circa £130. Apparently there are also some seasonal offers available.

Highlight of a visit is the dining with an excellent and creative a la carte, and better still a pre set 2 or 3 course offering outstanding value. My wife and I had a delicious 3 course dinner with a glass of wine for under £40, tremendous value at such a "classy" establishment! Another clever idea is if you don't wish for a full dessert, you may have a small, dessert taster which includes a cup of coffee. Have a look around Nailsworth while you're there, steep roads with an eclectic choice of individual shops and galleries, and a fine starting point to explore the Cotswolds.

The setting and ambience far exceeds the food...
Unfortunately the Prawn cocktail was not only a blast from the past but tasted exactly how my aunties tasted 30 years ago!
The tandoori chicken was very bland and the sauce watery....It had been marinated in beetroot, (according to the waitress)so looked quite bloody, which was so disconcerting to the couple who were at the neighbouring table, who were convinced it was raw uncooked chicken, that they declined to eat it. I however did eat it and lived to tell the tale.
My husband had whitebait (a huge portion) and the pork and bean casserole which he did enjoy at the time, but has suffered terrible indigestion since...
