“Excellent place to camp”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2014 via mobile

We stayed here mid week for 2 nights with my husband and 3 year old camping wright next to the lake pitch 13,
We loved it and plenty of grass for little girl to play on.
Toilets etc... Were spotless the best I have seen on a camp site
The owner was lovely and very help full.
My husband went fishing on the lake the next day he said only down side he wished there was other fish in there other than carp etc...
From 5am- 5pm he only caught 2 fish 3 if u count the one I caught.

But will def go again

Beautiful hotel in some amazing well kept grounds. Excellent friendly service. Well located to local attractions. Rooms are nicely decorated making a pleasent change from modern hotels where most rooms are a mirror image of the others.

A really lovely site, loads of space that you don't get on a lot of sites. The fishing lake got busier over the weekend but was never an issue and walking around the lake it was interesting to see all the kit set up.

We stayed over the May bank holiday and as the site got increasingly busier (I say busier, there was still plenty of space) the facilities got dirtier. It's all very well having a lovely new toilet and shower block and someone clean them each day but that's all wasted when you have people who can't flush a toilet (and block it up), smear poop over the walls and leave basins full of water. I really felt for the staff who had to face that each day.

We loved being able to camp in a group and have bbqs and a fire going, we didn't notice much noise as we were down by the lake but it got quite noisy at the back field in the evenings so we were glad not to be up there. The site does have a no noise after 10.30pm policy but there are always going to be people who don't feel that applies to them.

Really liked the site and will definitely head back over the summer.

A lovely rural location set back from any main roads. This picturesque campsite has all the basic amenities you need including nicely maintained showers and toilets. As a camping couple we were keen try tryout a campsite that allowed campfires (sadly a dying breed). The grounds allows fires if using their fire pits which they rent out for £5. We felt this was a fairly reasonable price. We paid £12 per night opting to stay two nights and we weren't keen to cut it short.

The spacious grounds meant you can camp in a number of locations along the lake and pick your own spot. We liked this as we wanted to be away from the families slightly and have our own space. The grounds are well kept and perfect for tenting.

Market Harborough village is just down the road as well as saddington car boot 10mins away, which was worth the visit.

Staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful. The local grounds keeper regularly walks round to check you are ok. It was a shame you had to keep your dog on a lead, but understandable considering the number of dogs that we saw.

We are already planing our next visit with a few friends.

This site may only be 15 miles from home but we love it to escape to. It's always been clean and tidy and the owners have always made us feel welcome. The top field can be lively with families, but isn't that part of camping? Kids enjoying the outdoors.

Loved the location, spacious, well kept grassed areas alongside a lovely peaceful fishing lake and wooded area. We pitched a group of tents as several of us stayed for two nights and the children of all ages played football, cricket and explored the site looking for trees to climb and other children to have fun with. We all really loved it.

The facilities were very clean. The new shower and toilet block was very warm and spotlessly kept. There was a shop selling basics and the lady there was very polite and helpful.

On the second night we hired a fire pit for £5 and bought some wood from the campsite shop which was rather expensive and knowing it wouldn't last the night two of our group foraged for firewood from the floor of the wooded areas alongside the camp. Unfortunately it wasn't made clear at the outset that that was against camp rules as wood was for sale and not to be stolen from the premises.

I would urge the campsite to erect some clear signs to this effect and also issue camp rules on the reverse of the site map handout upon arrival.

I would also suggest making firewood from the wooded areas available to purchase from the shop with an honesty box for a £1 donation as it would be far more beneficial to have access to Firewood outside of shop opening hours.

I think i must have high expectations. This is a lovely setting for a caravan and camping site. Its just a shame that people have to spoil things. People who go camping like to, (quite rightly), talk and laugh outside their tents....but, they dont realise how loud they can sound in the dead of night. I don't think 12 midnight is early......so at 12.30am when people were still walking past our motorhome laughing and talking as though it was 12.30 in the afternoon I just despair at how inconsiderate people can be. I dont think tents and caravan/motorhome users should be sited near to each other personally because of noise issues,

Another issue is allowing dogs off leads. Dogs were allowed to walk freely and although I love my dog, and love her to walk freely, there was an episode where a rottweiler was strolling around and attacked a little dog on site. Unfortunately, the owner had fallen asleep and the dog bit through its lead. Thankfully, the dog was chased off with a broom and someone grabbed the lead and took the dog back to its owner. It could have been a lot nastier though. I think the site need to reassess their rules. I think dogs are allowed off lead because the site has a dog that roams.

Having said that, we thought it was a lovely spot. Vanessa was very polite (I think that was who was on reception)......and made us feel very welcome.
