“Excellent, as always”
Reviewed 26 April 2014

Now permanently in its new address (though apparently it will be closed during June for refurbishment), the quality of the food and the excellent value for money remains the same. Went for a celebration dinner. Good choice of food, tasty, well presented and extremely good value for money considering the quality. A good wine list, some of which comes from the excellent Duncan Murray wine shop around the corner.

“Outstanding food”
Reviewed 24 April 2014

Lunch in April - booked on the same day. Outstanding food - couldnt fault it, superb. The atmosphere in the new premises is good too. Service could have been better... spent a while trying to get somebody to come to the table so we could order... also asked for the bill twice and waited a while before just getting up and paying at the counter. 5 star food, 3 star service, but will rate at 5 anyway cos previously they have been good. Oh - much mention it's great value too - 3 courses and a drink for less that twenty quid.

“New location excellent food”
Reviewed 23 April 2014 via mobile

We went to Ascough's for a family birthday celebration having been there before and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The bistro has moved location due to a fire at their previous establishment in the High Street in January of this year. The old location was on two floors and very cramped but the new location in St. Mary's Road is far better. Much more room and nice decor. Whilst is was supposed to be a temporary measure there was a notice saying they have decided to stay. Great decision!
The service was very good with friendly staff, food was excellent, great presentation and really good value. It cost just over £200 for 8 persons which includes 3 courses, bottle of good wine, 2x spirits, bottle of water and 5 non alcoholic drinks as well as the service charge. Would most definitely recommend.

“Fab food as always”
Reviewed 15 April 2014 via mobile

Managed to get a table mid week and our first time visiting the new premises. Food was stunning as usual, good variety for all 3 courses. Had the warm potato salad, chicken and cheesecake. Would highly recommend.
