Hello
What another wonderful review we have received about our staff, who work really hard ensuring our guests are well looked after. Some of our rooms are currently undergoing a facelift along with new beds. We are glad you enjoyed our breakfast, which just recently has won an award from Visit England. We look forward to welcoming you soon. Kind Regards

We dined here on Friday evening 9 Aug 2014. there were six adults, three children under seven and a baby. We needed to eat early and so sat down at 6pm. We were given a room to ourselves which suited us very well. The food was excellent - imaginative menu items and all beautifully cooked and served. The steak got a special mention as did the salmon on paella. Two lads served us - James and one whose name I forget. They may not be the most experienced waiters but they were friendly and pretty efficient. There were some nice touches like extra cutlery being brought on a tray with a napkin. The cost for nibbles (must not be missed), main course, sweet and coffee accompanied by wine and beer was £144 which we consider really good value.

Friendly, helpful staff. We were on second floor, no lift, but young man insisted on carrying our cases. Hot nights, no air con but fan provided. (Also a fan heater for less good times!). Good breakfast - extra cost on our deal. Very clean room. Crisp linen. Hotel a bit tired, but 200years old. Enjoyed our stay. Would go again.

Stayed here on 9 aug in room 32 which was a courtyard room. Check in was great with a lovely helpful lady who let is have the room early and could not have been more friendly advising us on restaurants etc. Sadly it was downhill from here. On entering the room there was a overwhelming smell of damp. The bedroom area itself was clean and quite acceptable with a nice comfy bed. However the bathroom was awful with a cracked sink and damp patches with paint peeling off the walls. Couple this with miss matched 1980s gold and newer steel shower hose it made for a place you wouldn't want to shower or wash in. Grouting in tiles dirty as well. I have uploaded photos of all these points. On the upside a great central location. Room rate was £56 a night which is fine if the bathroom
Was clean and the room didn't smell.

We spent two nights at this hotel recently, and found it very comfortable. The public rooms are pleasant, but the bedroom was a little tired. It was clean, with a vast range of facilities--a hairdrier, fan, heater, iron & ironing board, and a trouser press.Great!
The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast menu was unbelievably comprehensive---the best ever, and thoughtfully written.
We would certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: Maybe a room at the back,as the front may be noisier.

My room was over a noisy fan.Might have been less intrusive if it had been continuous rather than intermittent..
Bath had some black mould round joint with tiles and there were some hairs on the tiling .
Breakfast was at extra cost . It was served in a pleasant, light and bright room by a lovely smiley lady. The rest of the hotel was somewhat "tired".
