The combined services at Symington 1 provide an exciting cultural and heritage hub in the heart of the community. The interior is designed to inspire, encourage and support learning for everybody of all ages and abilities, while the original exterior of the Grade II building preserves the manufacturing legacy of the site. With changing displays in a dedicated special exhibition space and a shared entrance with the new library, this is an exciting, fresh space for the town. From borrowing the latest bestseller to delving into your family history, Market Harborough library has it all. “Brilliant revamp integrating the library and museum.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

The newly refurbished museum and library complex is innovative and fun for all ages. Children's books, exhibits and interactive displays and games mean it is a million miles away from the traditional quiet dusty library. Staff are helpful and friendly.

“Local but very special”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

Now within the re-vamped council offices, along with the library, and with displays that feature the history of Market Harborough.
Some very special contents, superbly displayed with text and graphics to match.

“Nice but don't bother”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 October 2013

I asked where was the museum after several people one answered it was there but that's all that is left now, a small display shame I went. Nice town for window shopping though so the day wasn't all that bad

“Great Little Museum Folds”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2013

Sad to say that as a result of re-development this excellent small museum has closed down. It held Symington's corset factory collection as well as the Hallaton helmet - a stunning artifact.

“Visit with a school party”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 May 2013

This museum is excellent to visit for a few hours with the children. I went with a small group of school children on an organised trip. The museum staff were very helpful and there are lots of interactive displays that the children can be involved with. I have lived in this area for a number of year and had never visited until now but I shall be going again when it reopens after the refurbishment.
