This is now our number one spot to go to , lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, good service and lovely food. This was our first visit, on driving we thought we had driven into a housing area but little did we know we have found the hidden gem ! .

Massive shame that somewhere with such an amazing location offers up a decidedly below average experience where the food and service is concerned.

After ordering drinks we said we were having the carvery but were told to wait and they would tell us when to go up…there was no queue and it looked well stocked? Sat there for about 15 minutes and in the end asked one of the waiting staff if we could go up, she said not yet as they were replenishing. We eventually went up and were served with one very thin slice of beef and two small slices of gammon. The food wasn’t bad but was just average (how can gravy have no flavour?) after we’d finished our meal we were all set to order dessert - but again we sat there, and sat there and sat there…you get the idea. By this time the restaurant was quiet and numerous waiting staff passed our table. In the end I stopped one lad and said we were going to order dessert but we’d been left that long we’d decided to leave and could we please have the bill. He then just disappeared! Eventually he came back and spoke to the manager who then came over with the bill, she gave an apology saying the girl serving us had gone on her break and that’s why we’d been left. She gave us our drinks for free. During that time we noticed two other tables who’d been sat there waiting for AGES before they finally asked about the carvery…I thought the idea of a carvery was to just go up?! Anyway, needless to say the poor level of service and distinctly average food means we won’t be going back unless someone else takes it over and does it some justice.

After a day trip to Market Harborough we booked a table to visit this eatery for lunch. The weather was gorgeous, so we opted to sit outside instead of our booked table which was inside.
The setting is beautiful and located by the water, with docked canal boats. It was peaceful and quaint. The servers were friendly and took our orders quickly and the drinks followed soon after.
The Sunday menu is quite limited, so we all opted for cavery’s. I was waiting at the carvery deck to be served and I could see the lady server behind the windowed door who noticed my presence but continued to eat for a few minutes. As far as a carvery goes it was ok, a choice of three meats and selection of vegetables and sauces. But you’re not spoilt for choice like other carvery’s I’ve visited. Nothing is seasoned, which is standard. But the veg was borderline cooked, I like my veg with a bite but not raw.
There’s parking out the front which we didn’t realise so we parked at a pay and display car park and short ten minute walk. The toilets were clean and well maintained.
Overall, a beautiful location with a nice ambience and accommodating service. Let down by the food, which was the main purpose of our visit. I would rate lower because of the below average food but the staff and the setting really impressed me.

Came with family for lunch, food was very good and arrived quickly. Actual service was poor. Struggled to get a second round of drinks. No one checked in, must have lost a fair bit of money just with us. Wouldn’t rush back

What a picturesque venue ,right on the canal wharf. Boats a plenty and a pub with reasonable food and drink. Inside and outside seating and pleasant helpful staff. Car park at the rear too.
