We travelled upto Boston from Cornwall for a friends wedding celebrations so were staying for two nights at the hotel. The first night we checked in with no problems headed for the coast and then to bed with our balcony doors open due to the heat (and lack of our air conditioning). Additionally the 'Free Wifi' wasn't functioning and although we reported this to reception at around 17.00 nothing was rectified until the following morning!

All was well until 06.30 the following morning when the groundsman came out to mow the 16th tee and woke us up! We went across to the clubhouse for breakfast in what resembled a truck stop cafe rather than a 3 star hotel's dining room. The breakfast itself was at best poor with cheap ingredients and poor service (no menus for breakfast options etc).

The wedding itself was a lovely day although returning for a shower prior to the night function we were shocked to find our room had not been made up with a couple of clean towels abandoned in the room and no toilet roll in the bathroom, the cups not cleaned and the bed not made! Not 3 star in my book!

The location of the hotel came into it's own after a few celebratory drinks with the Bride and Groom with just a drunken stagger across the carpark back to our beds and a good nights sleep.

To sum up if you're attending a wedding then it's a good idea to stay although I feel the room rate is a little much for what's on offer.

We booked this accommodation as we were attending a wedding at the Boston West Golf Club. The 'hotel' is located on the same grounds as the Golf Club and is about a 2 minute walk which makes it a very handy location if attending a function or, indeed, playing golf. However, I use inverted commas as this is certainly not in any category of hotel I have ever stayed in and is more like a very cheap lodge.

We arrived at the hotel at 10.00pm as we had travelled a long distance. When we arrived, the lights were off in reception and there was a notice on the door advising us to call a mobile number for assistance. Thankfully our mobile phone had just enough battery to do this and the night porter arrived and checked us in.

The room itself was not particularly clean or homely. It was a good size room though rather ridiculously, had a 14 inch wall mounted television that was strapped down!! The hotel provided a travel cot which was bowed in the middle and thus unusable.

It is clear this hotel was built with the sole purpose of accommodating golfers which is a shame as guests attending functions are rather hard done by. It does not have a restaurant, bar or even a small lounge area and as such, I am surprised it is allowed to get away with calling itself a hotel.

excellent location for our purpose (attending wedding reception at hall opposite). Room was very good, large nice balcony overlooking driving range. Very comfy large bed. Only problem with room was the water temp was set too low in the shower - could get piping hot bath water though.
Breakfast was served in club house a short walk away - fine for us as weather good, food good - usual stuff! Only ate breakfast there. All staff friendly and helpful.

I found this hotel via the google search engine. I was looking for somewhere to stay in the area for a couple of days on business. The website looked appealing and the location was ideal. Reviews on other forums suggested this would be an ok place to stay providing free wi-fi internet connection (which was important to me) but unfortunately my mobile didn't receive a signal unless I was in the car park. The rooms do offer a landline phone service @ 25p per minute.

Boston West is easy to find and if you like golf it forms part of the Boston West Golf Club complex so this is pretty handy for golfers. I stayed in a standard double room - the rooms are large, clean, functional, no frills, comfortable and perfectly adequate for the purpose of my stay. The bathrooms are modern with plenty of hot water and good showers.

I had mixed feelings about having to walk to the Clubhouse for breakfast and evening meals (which isn't far) but when it rains you get wet! You can drive round but it seems a ridiculously short distance to bother with the car. The upside of having the dining and bar facilities away from the sleeping accommodation is that noise is minimal with little risk of being disturbed.

The breakfast again is basic - yoghurt, juice, cereal, cooked breakfast, toast, coffee etc but hot and plentiful and the service was prompt enough. The dining area isn't inspring as it doubles up as a function room at night - the windows are dirty which obscures what view you might have enjoyed over the golf course. And beware catching the chef on a bad day - he swears like a trooper and can be heard in the kitchen from the dining area.

Value for money? Not bad - £120.00 for 2 nights bed & breakfast for one person. You pay a room rate regardless of single occupancy plus the cost of breakfast and I thought for an AA 3 star hotel this was reasonable.

Would I stay again? Probably - the location and functionality of the hotel suited me. The hotel doesn't have character or anything like that, it is basically a place to stay and sleep. Everything else is provided in the Clubhouse.
