“Lovely hotel with big spacious rooms”
Reviewed 2 May 2014

I came for a weekend break with a bunch of lady golfers.
We had a fantastic time. The golf course was fabulous. Well worth playing again sometime.
Food was excellent and plenty of it. Although
Breakfast was very poor. Food ran out very quickly and a long wait for it to be replenished.
I am a coeliac and had to wait ages for gluten free toast (I thought they had forgotten!!) I was very disappointed as I had informed hotel of my dietary request before I arrived. There was nothing I could eat as it either had gluten in or had been eaten by other guests! Breakfast resulted in cold g/f toast, no butter or jam (they ran out) cold tea and didn't get hot tea even tho we asked.
The hotel was very clean. The staff were lovely? The pool and leisure facilities were very good. Golf course great. Quiet setting. Over all a great place to stay. I would definitely come again

Room Tip: Some rooms are a long way from reception. A very long walk. Up two flights of stairs. No porters ser...

We are currently being refused any sort of refund on a holiday we took at this park on the 25th April (But we shall fight all the way!) Our search was for a lodge (booked through Sykes Cottages), in Lincoln, that had a hot tub, nearby pub and shop, 7 cottages popped up that were a ' Match' Poppy Lodge, at Kenwick Woods being one of the 7. This is now a 100% honest review before you consider this Park based on our own experience.

There is no Hot Tub at this Lodge as we found out just 2 days before the holiday, the advertised 'Leisure club' facilities included, were not included at all, being the swimming pool, jaccuzi, sauna, steam room, tennis courts, please note the tennis court is a dis used rubbish area housing a JCB digger between the hotel and the lodges. after 20 humiliating minutes arguing with staff in the Leisure Centre and producing the holiday booking we were given passes, but not before they called out to each other across reception we were not on the list and the hotel confirmed we were not on the list. When we did get into pool area after 30 minutes use it was roped off for a swimming club, it was packed we could not get into the other amenities they were full in actual fact some people remained in the hot tub the entirety of the 40 minutes we waited. Preference is given to members, the timetable is limited for Aqua classes etc.and the people from lodges and hotel are treated as 2nd class citizens by rude staff. Also 'people' from lodges are not even allowed in until after 10a.m probably applies to Hotel as well?

We did not go back, it is a 20-30 minute walk from lodges to this centre, unlit at night, not ten minutes as advertised. The nearest pub and shop are 1.5 miles it states, they are not, nearest shop is 3.1 miles away in Louth nearest pub is 2.5 miles away, and you have to drive over a river, it is not walkable. There is only a 999 emergency calls coverage on mobile phones 95% of the time, no signal with the main network providers.

This particular cottage although looking pretty, was not, problems were :- Patio furniture too dirty to use had been left out in rain and weather conditions, lights not working, electricity cut off, followed by heating in bedrooms stopped working. Dirty bathroom taps, cobwebs and spiders, dirty floors, used tissue under bed, old underwear hangers left in drawers, childrens sweets under chairs, we had to dish wash plates and cutlery as food left stuck on, and cups were brown. We had to contact the caretaker twice, unaware at the time that he was the owner he did not make himself known, could not ring Sykes Cottages, no signal.

So all in all this was the worst holiday we have ever had, we are £426 out of pocket plus dog kennel costs for the week, please research before you book!! hopefully this will all be of help, we have been told we are the first people to complain? I don't think so,wish we had looked on here first!

We stayed her a few weeks back, and when we opened the door to our room, wow!! what can I say. It was beautiful, very large and spacious. There was a four poster bed, and a dressing area, along with a huge bathroom. The room was above reception, and over looked the car park and golf club.
We decided to use the leisure facilities, and this again was nice, but the pool was quite cool, and the steam room had no aroma in the steam, just the small of sweaty bodies, so did not stay there that long.
Although the bed looked very nice, it was not the most comfortable bed to sleep in, considering the money we had paid, I was disappointed, as we did not sleep very well. The bed was metal framed, with a big wooden sheet underneath the mattress, and squeaked all night!!
Breakfast was very nice, warm and plenty to eat. The breakfast room was nicely laid out and you did not feel cramped. You were not rushed, so could enjoy the food.

All in all, A lovely hotel, set in wonderful grounds. I would happily stay here again, although I would prefer a better bed, as I said, if you are paying the price, you expect to get a good night. The service of the staff was excellent and they were very polite.

excellent hotel would recommend. Bedroom very comfortable requested ground floor as no lift this was honoured we did request shower rather than bath at the time of booking but this must not have been possible however we managed with difficulty climbing into and out of the bath. we are both in our 70's Maybe we should have made the request again when we arrived.Food first class and staff were very good.

A good quality hotel situated a couple of miles outside of Louth. My room was spacious and comfortable and would have put a lot of more modern places to shame. The breakfast was well presented and the dining room has a nice outlook over the grounds and golf course.
This is a nice, good value, hotel for an overnight stay or short break.
One word of warning, if internet access is important to you then you may struggle here. By their own admission their internet is not good, and I would say it is poor and I struggled to maintain a connection for more than a couple of minutes at a time.

Booked a one night winter warmer break to inc x2 spa days, 1 night in a lodge, a 25min treatment, 2 course dinner & breakfast.

The lodge - was very nice, no complaints. Everything you need but it was about 30 minutes walk to hotel. Not great if you want a drink with evening meal as you cannot drive & there's no lighting. When we booked we weren't advised that we needed to pay an under occupancy charge of £30 pp!! Taking the low attractive price to not as attractive! This was advertised incorrectly also when I later checked on the web (it says £20pp).

Check in - at the lodge it isn't available until 4pm, again this wasn't advertised. On checking later, the website says 3pm. We were dropped off & the receptionist was very unhelpful and said we'd have to go to the spa with all our stuff - 2 suitcases & numerous shopping bags!!!

The Spa - is not a spa. It is a rundown, tired and dirty leisure centre. There's nothing relaxing or luxurious about it. The changing room was busy, not enough lockers for all our stuff and very old & dirty. On entering the pool area it was full of children including the pool and jacuzzi. The sauna was fine if a bit old but the steam was foul and it had a terrible smell. The pictures and advertising is totally misleading! It's open to members and is a swimming pool basically.
There were 4 sun loungers & a couple of chairs so absolutely nowhere to relax or sit. Possibly the worst spa facilities ever.
We got water splashed over us and balls landing on us that kids were throwing, just unbelievable!

Treatment - again the treatment area was rundown. The waiting area & treatment room was cold & bright - no relaxing atmosphere! The treatment was ok.
The post massage room looked ok on first glance but there is sone type of generator outside & it was so noisy!!

Food - the dinner was lovely as we're the waiting staff. The breakfast was average.

All in all ok for the money, lodge & food saved the experience.

I couldn't add this to your review section as the word limit was capped.
