Having eaten at the Tai Pan in the past and had a good meal with friends,we decided to order a family meal to takeaway from the Tai Pan as a Friday night treat. We usually prefer one of the several Indian takeaway options in Louth but wanted a change.

I am afraid to say that the meal really was quite poor and more costly than most other takeaway options in Louth. Everything seemed to lack flavour and contained very little meat.

My advice would be try somewhere else.

We had Peking duck followed by 2 of the specials, steak in XO sauce and prawn with ginger, all very good. That with some rice was sufficient. Having 2 specials pushed up the price a bit but overall good value

We eat at the Tai Pan at least once a month, driving some distance to do so, and have never been let down. The menu is interesting without being overlarge (a good thing), and the food is of a consistently high standard. The service is enthusiastic and returning customers are remembered. We have never been left waiting, even at busy times, and there is plenty of room so that you don't feel crammed in. The cuisine is Chinese, not Thai, as a previous confused reviewer seemed to think (Thai has an 'h' in it - just in case they hadn't realised), and as such is an excellent example of Chinese food. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a good meal in Louth.

Do visit here regularly, but thought mention after our experience Saturday night.
As the takeaways were given priority or so it seemed over diners.
7.30 booking main course after 10pm.. Girl who served us messed up by skipping our starter , so made it a long night. Shame as our daughters birthday and first family dinner out for a while. Other diners also commented on the long wait.
