we spent Christmas here with Christmas lunch at Richard 3rd Hotel, it was brilliant!
Couldn't have had a better holiday, the bed is so comfy, and the log burner kept us as warm as toast!!! Wonderful!!!! Can recommend watching the horses exercise on low moor.
We had a lovely stay in Jenny Wren Cottage in the heart of Middleham this is a stone built one bedroom cottage with a log burner, well fitted kitchen & one of the most comfortable Double Beds
The Jenny Wren is ideally placed for visiting Middleham Castle/The Racing Yards or just walking the local dales
Good choice of Pubs & Restaurants in the village-we have rebooked for the same week next year!
One of the best cottages we have stayed at, Compact but fully equipped and in an excellent location within the village. Easy walk to pubs and shop. Great location for touring the Dales, A walk onto Middleham moor to see the race horses training is a must.
This cottage is absolutely stunning, beautifully furnished and very well equipped. We arrived to fresh chocolate muffins and milk in the fridge which after a 6 hour drive was just perfect. The cottage is very warm and cosy with logs sold reasonably at the local shop. The area of middleham is so lovely with several pubs, restaurants, local store and antiques shops. The food in the white swan and Richard the III is really lovely. You will not go wrong with this cottage and area as a holiday destination everything was absolutely perfect and will Definately be back. I have already recommended to many friends too ;)!
The cottage is small but well furnished and the kitchen has a good oven and hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher, toaster and microwave. All worked well and we cooked a few evening meals during our week taking advantage of the excellent range of local produce .. The lounge area has two comfortable squashy leather settees ideal for relaxing after a day out walking and sight-seeing. It took a couple of nights to get used to the local church clock chiming throughout but after that we just slept through! It was lovely to hear the race-horses going off on the gallops each morning and a great sight to behold as they cantered off in line along the road. There are some good local places to eat and also as a treat the Blue Lion at East Witton. We were lucky enough to meet Vera Seaton at Middleham Castle. She was doing a book signing for her book written about the Middleham Jewel - enjoyed a good chat with her. There is a very good well-stocked village shop in Middleham where you can buy pretty much anything including newspapers. The weather was pretty awful when we were at the cottage but this didn't stop us getting out and about each day visiting some of the many beautiful Yorkshire Dales villages.
