Another wonderful stay in the Gourgeous Jenny Wren cottage ,love Middleham plenty to do , wonderful walks , fantastic scenery.A big thank you to Angela & Alan for sharing their cottage ....
The Jenny Wren Cottage is nicely located in the center of Middleham, within easy walking distance of several pubs, a small shop and a great fish and chip shop. The cottage is small - really only suitable for a couple but it has everything you need. The wi-fi works really well. There are electric radiators throughout the house and we turned them on when we first arrived, to "take the chill off" as they say, but after the first day, we didn't really need them, although we did use the log fire in the living room, mostly for effect. The information says you should park in the center of the village, which is just up the hill, but we parked just above the cottage in the parking near the church and no one seemed to mind. You will here the church clock chiming every fifteen minutes and then on the hour - not so loud to be annoying but a charming reminder of an era when time moved more slowly.
Our second visit to this very cosy and immaculate cottage. Quality furnishings, very comfy bed and lovely shower room. Plenty of walks from the cottage and four pubs within walking distance. I would highly recommend this cottage.
The cottage is well equipped, cosy and in a pretty location. The cottage is in a lane leading to the beautiful church and there are several stables nearby where you can watch the horses being exercised. There are real ale pubs which do good food 5 minutes from the cottage. I would recommend the cottage without reservation.
Spent 6 nights in this cottage for two people. It is spotlessly clean and well-equipped (washer/dryer, dishwasher, large fridge/freezer etc.). Very comfortable bed. Good wi-fi and a selection of Cds and DVDs. Woodburner in lounge and electric panel heaters throughout provide heat very quickly. Ideally situated in the middle of Middleham close to shops and pubs, this cottage is an ideal base for exploring Wensleydale, Swaledale and many other dales. Even York is easily reached. Lots of information provided with regards to touristy things - there's even a well-organised folder giving info on the different electrical goods in the property. Plenty of good walks from your front door. Parking is next to the property. Good communication before and during stay from the helpful owner. Many people return to this cottage and I would highly recommend it.
Jenny Wren Cottage was perfect for our short break in Middleham. A gorgeous little cottage for two. Clean, comfortable, cosy and very well equipped. Tucked quietly away on Church Lane but close to everything that Middleham has to offer. We enjoyed lovely local walks along the rivers Cover & Ure and to Jervaulx Abbey. Richard III pub is good for a drink & food as is the Cover Bridge Inn less than a couple of miles away (nice walk along Cover Banks and the River Cover).
Cottage was delightful..cosy and comfortable..wood burner gave out good heat, needed when it started to snow! Bed was very comfortable.kitchen very well equipped. Excellent position in village and easy to travel the Dales. Variety of books supplied which made good reading.Really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend and definetly will return. Found the history of the cottage to be interesting and the connection with the lovely church.
