“Wonderful, quaint, unspoilt cottage in a tranquil fishing village”
Reviewed 29 September 2018 for a stay in September 2018

If you're after a cosy, genuine, unspoilt cottage in a fishing village, this is it. It's tiny yet perfectly formed - ideal for just the two of us - and is a combination of going through a timewarp to the 1960s for the decor, fireplace etc, and modern shower, bathroom, a microwave and cooker. There's also super-fast fibre broadband with a YouView box for catch-up TV too and modern heaters as well as a nice fireplace for a coal fire if you want it.
Local pubs fill up quickly for food so I'd advise booking early for them. Dotty's TeaRoom (2 minutes walk away) also sells off the day's scones at 4 for £2 after it closes too which fed us a few times!
We went in mid-September, after the schools had gone back, so thankfully it was nice and peaceful.
The only slight thing to note is that there is a (locked) door between this and the next door cottage which lets a lot of sound through; we could clearly hear the neighbours' conversation. Thankfully they were only talking...
It's useful to have a Co-op about 15 minutes' walk away up the hill too.
You can park directly outside the house but it's narrow and on a steep hill; you can also park down on the quay area if necessary or have a larger car or SUV/4x4. We were able to top up our plug-in hybrid car too as there's no pavement between the car and the front window.
We absolutely loved our week here and wouldn't hesitate to come back. The owners were great, as were the housekeepers in the village.

“Fisherman's Cottages, Staithes”

I have just come back from staying for a week in cottage no 4 and
I can highly recommend the cottage, the owners and Staithes itself.
My initial email enquiry was replied to promptly, as were all follow up emails. The owner was very helpful with local advice too, walks, places to eat etc.
The cottage is a lovely little home, compact, but with everything you could want (apart from a strong phone signal - for me that was a positive - I was on holiday!)
It has it's own parking space directly outside too, which many holiday homes in the village don't have.
The view from the cottage is just lovely, looking down onto where the 'beck' meets the harbour and the sea.
I loved Staithes, with all its steps leading this way and that between the higgledy piggledy cottages, with its hills and views, and the sea on one side and the North York Moors on the other.
I shall definitely be heading back sometime.

“Cost candlelit winter break in this charming cottage”
Reviewed 2 December 2017 for a stay in December 2017

Visiting Staithes in winter when its less busy really evokes an atmosphere of days gone by, and staying in this traditional cottage with its view over everything is the perfect spot to get immersed right in it. The cottage is spotless, the bedlinen crisp and clean, the library of books and maps thoughtful, and the owners provide everything you need without ripping out the history. The view is magnificent, waking up on such a vista is priceless, and being able to park outside really handy too. Love this place, will keep returning. Oh and don't forget to visit Staithes museum - an Aladdin's cave of treasures from the past.

“Chilled out old style cottage”
Reviewed 13 November 2017 for a stay in November 2017

Just returned from a lovely weekend break, if you want cosy quaint and feel away from it all it’s a very good choice. Feels like you are stepping back to the 60s and this seems to compliment a visit to Staithes, would highly recommend, great sat out having breakfast looking out to sea, a chilly 5c but worth it, good comfy bed, good coal fire, good views, good price can’t fault it for a laid back weekend away, would definitely book again

“Perfect coastal retreat”
Reviewed 31 October 2017 for a stay in October 2017

Great little cottage, full of character with everything you need. Warm, cosy and old fashioned in a lovely charming way. Short walk to the village butchers and our favourite Staithes pub, the Cod and Lobster. Beautiful view of the beck, harbour and lifeboat station. We enjoyed a lovely week pottering around the coast finding fossils, eating fish and chips and sitting by the open fire. Parking outside the cottage was a big plus for somewhere in Staithes.
