This is a family run business and local pub which creates a welcoming atmosphere. The room we had this time was smaller than the last but with a much nicer and roomier bathroom. Everything was very clean. My only complaint is that there was only one light in the bedroom. The location in an extremely pretty and historic North Yorkshire village could not be more delightful. The food is good and certainly plentiful. The staff are very pleasant, friendly and helpful. This is our second visit. We will be returning.

Room Tip: The rooms vary quite a bit so it depends upon your priorities.

We stayed Friday and Saturday night in order to go to the wedding of a friend in nearby Helmsley. The staff are very polite, courteous and welcoming. The breakfast is excellent with plenty to choose from. They very kindly gave us some bread to feed the ducks outside the nearby priory. Very accommodating of small children.

They saved us from what could have been a disastrous weekend when they put us up as short notice and Simon and Helen couldnt have been more friendly and welcoming. The room was v.comfortable, and .the food delicious. They were holding a 'Little Festival of Everything' whilst we were there with singers and poets and plays. Marvellous place. The village and surrounding areas are beautiful too. So glad we found it.

My wife, dog and I recently had lunch at the Fauconberg Arms and have to say we had an excellent time. As it was a beautiful day and our dog is rather excitable we asked if we could eat outside and we were told that it was no problem. The staff were very friendly and the food was very nice indeed.
We feel we are lucky that the Fauconberg is local to us, therefore we can return regularly.

We stayed here on Easter Sunday as part of a trip around some of Yorkshire. We really landed on our feet. The village is very quaint and the Fauconberg could not have been better. Both the building and its location were wonderful and Simon and Helen could not have been more welcoming and friendly. They had even booked us a table in the restaurant, assuming we would want one, without obligation, and that was a very good move. The restaurant was fantastic, the food superb and a really good choice; not the pub favourites we had assumed would be offered. They offer a range of food including pasta direct from their sources in Italy. They are even able to offer Italian wines from their contacts there, which were excellent and very competitively price.

Room Tip: all excellent, rooms very well decorated with views across the hills

One of the best places we have ever stayed. The rooms are very comfortable and the food is out of this world. We will definitely be staying there again. We have been twice now. Only a short distance from the A1 so makes an excellent stopping off point if you are on a long journey.

Room Tip: Choose one of the luxury rooms as they are bigger

Witha string of arts related events taking place almost weekly there is always a reason to visit this traditional Yorkshire village pub. A bar in the back, dining room to the side, nice lounge bar to the front with woodburner all provide somethiing for everyone. Sunday roast lunch is a winner, generous slabs of beef and gravy, and we sat by the fire with several pots of tea afterwards without any hassle. Went back for one of the music nights which was great too.
Try the Mason's Gin which is made locally too.
