Yet again a very enjoyable few days at The Sun Inn. Only warning is that is that even if you are staying there you need to book for evening meals - its that popular and rightly so. Owners, staff and chef are excellent. So is the menu and presentation. Sadly they only have four rooms so you either get lucky or book in advance.

Room Tip: Not going to tell anyone which is the best!

My husband and I, and our dog Cindy, were holidaying near Alnmouth in a holiday cottage, and we saw all the rave reviews in the visitors book, so we thought we'd give 'The Sun Inn' a try. It did not disappoint. Wonderful pub/inn friendly and very welcoming, and they allow dogs into the bar area which is a bonus. The food was excellent, one of the best meals my husband and myself have had in a long while. Very well presented, tasty and great value for money. It was just a shame that we were only on a short break, as we would most definitely have eaten there again.

We enjoyed our stay here but the rooms although adequate were not good value. My best advice for Alnmouth is to find a decently priced B&B and eat at this place. The food in the pub was very good and decent value for money. One warning though, we were residents and all but one of the tables in the pub were booked when we arrived. Had we not spotted that, because the dopy staff on duty in the afternnon didn't tell us, we may have had to find somewhere else to eat that night. Not acceptable

Room Tip: There aren't any at the prices they charged us. Also watch out for the bedroom with the private...

Needed to stay near Longframilington for one night so decided to look at somewhere near the sea and came across Alnmouth. After looking at the substantial choice of accommodation (given the size of the very small but perfectly formed little town!) we decided to stay at The Sun Inn. What an inspired choice (by me!). Immaculately kept and spotlessly clean, this is a lovely little pub. Our room was enormous with a double and single bed plus a settee, with loads of clean fluffy towels and up market soaps, gels and shampoos! Breakfast was spot on and plentiful, we also ate there the night before, this was also very good. All in all just what we needed and far more than we expected.

My partner and I stayed here last night (Saturday 31st May). We were really pleased with it, especially as we arrived in Alnmouth quite early and were able to check in even though it was hours before the 1pm check in time. We were told we would have been able to leave our bag there even if the room hadn't been ready, anyway, which is always appreciated - especially as we were taking a trip up to Craster (well worth it). The room (room 1) was fairly spacious, with a massive bed and clean white linens. The bathroom was modern and spotless, and the shower had great water pressure and sizeable cubicle. Complimentary shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and soap of decent quality, as well as the usual hot drinks. One minor negative was that these were placed on top of a low wicker basket, not ideal but not a big problem. We were only there overnight but there was plenty of space to unpack clothes if you wanted to. Decent hairdryer found in the top drawer next to the bed. We didn't have or have a drink in the pub, although it looked like a lovely place for a tipple - we were just too tired to stay up for a night cap after a busy day and late dinner. Breakfast was good, a selection of cereals and orange juice was available for self-service, and a lovely member of staff on hand to take orders of tea, coffee and cooked breakfast. Full English was very tasty and was stuffed afterwards. Could have been told at check in about what time breakfast was served and where, as well as check out time, but to be fair we did take them by surprise by arriving at about half 10 in the morning! The lady who greeted us (potentially landlady) was very helpful and talked us through the local buses etc. Overall we had a lovely experience and great night's sleep - have given 4/5 primarily as thought the room was a bit pricey at £90 given it was quite basic compared to other placed I have stayed at that price. That probably reflects the fact Alnmouth is a relatively pricey wee place.

Alnmouth is a great place. Lovely village and superb beaches. I've stayed and eaten in the Red Lion which is nice but a bit pricey. Got a good deal here in February. £35 a night, and the bedroom and breakfast was top notch.
Good pub as well - there are a few to be fair - but we didn't eat there. Will do so next time. Menu has improved and they have special nights such as curry themes.
Staff really friendly. No complaints. A great place to go for a long walk and the come back in for a pint beside a real fire.

Booked the family room for 3 at The Sun Inn in Alnmouth for a Sunday night at £90. Arrived to a nice welcome. I've read other reviewers say that the place was unwelcoming. Nonsense! These are busy people running a busy pub and you can't expect a receptionist to be sitting there waiting for you to show up. Staff were helpful with local information such as buses and taxis but most of all they were unobtrusive which is just how I like it. The room was enormous and immaculately clean. Breakfast was fine and we'll certainly go again without hesitation. Note to owners - 4 little jiggers of milk is never going to be enough for 3 people in a family room. I had to go and ask for more but again it was no trouble.
