“Lovely time at Bilton Barns”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 May 2012

Fantastic cottage, lovely sea views, furnished to a very high standard with attention to detail. Spacious living room and very comfortable beds. Very friendly, welcoming and accomodating hosts.
Excellent position for exploring surrounding areas, very close to pretty village and great beach, short drive to Alnwick.
Highly recommended.

We took the 3 linked cottages Stephen Brian and Dorothy for our large extended family and it was perfect. The enclosed garden was a godsend for the smaller children. Plenty of room for all of us to gather together in the kitchen/lounge and 2 toilets in each cottage. French doors at the back made coming and going simple and safe. Dorothy and Brian were very helpful and the cottages were comfortable and relaxing. Plenty of parking out front - again very safe. Also stored our bikes in the shed. Nearest big supermarket by the back road was Sainsbury's at 10mins. Alnwick is lovely but traffic was slow! Alnmouth 2 miles away is delightful as is Warkworth along the coast. Lots to see in the area. We had poor weather but it didn't stop us all thoroughly enjoying our stay

Have not stayed in B & B for some time but Bilton Barns came recommended. Touring the North East for a few days, we arrived from a Premier Inn in Durham. Bilton Barns is more expensive but has far better location and charm. Slightly disappointed upon entering as the public areas ( Entrance Hall, Sitting Room and Conservatory) are a little shabby but the bedrooms are excellent and the bed linen and towels crisp and clean. Standard of decoration in the rooms is very good indeed and the furnishings practical in pleasant 'antique' style. The Jackson family very welcoming and helpful hosts. Choice and quality of breakfast food cannot be faulted. Would not hesitate to return.

We spent 3 nights recently at Bilton Barns and cannot say enough good about this establishment. The house and rooms were spacious, clean, well appointed and modern. Mrs Jackson is a a very personable host who cooks one of the best breakfasts that I have ever had. I thoroughly recommend the house as being the ideal place to visit coastal Northumberland especially if you want to be near Alnwick and Alnmouth but far enough away to have absolute peace and quiet.

even though its a working farm there is no noise and the area around the building is very clean. The view from the bed room is fantastic over looking fields and sea.the room is big with four poster bed free veiw flat screen tv,the bath room as shower could be a little bigger but not a problem.front as a big garden to sun bath or play with the kids.It as a big conservatory and a room where you could have a read.
all in all a good place to explore Alnwick, alnmouth and the surrounding area of Northumber

Room Tip: big comfy bed

My wife and I stayed in the house at Bilton Barns for five nights, June 18-23. We much enjoyed being there. For us it had just the right, slightly understated, touch of class. The welcome was friendly, but not effusively so - properly helpful. The bedroom was large, very well proportioned and pleasantly furnished. The guest's sitting room likewise, with attractive conservatory beyond it, leading on to the lawn. The view, of fields and the sea in the distance, is fine indeed. Excellent breakfast, served at a large dining table in yet another attractive room. All in all quite one of the best places we have ever stayed in.

Just returned from our 4th stay at Bilton Barns, I think that really speaks for itself. A warm welcome as usual from Dorothy and Brian. We stayed in our usual room with the four poster bed, our Dad was next door to us, this is a lovely family home, not like a bed &breakfast. Breakfast was a feast of local produce, nothing was too much trouble. Lovely to sit in the garden and conservatory on an evening and have a glass of youre own wine.
The village was lovely but I would not recommend the red lion pub for food. last time we went it was lovely but certainly not this time, over priced not so good food. The coach inn, just a short ride away was amazing, please ask Dorothy where it is. a local taxi came and it cost us 12 pounds return. I would recommend this B&B to anyone that likes peace and quiet and home comforts. Thank you once again. from Julie and family x
