“No Frills Home from Home.”
Reviewed 19 August 2012

Stayed here for a night with my Daughter. If you want 5* luxury, with impersonal service, then look elsewhere. We stayed in a high class hotel the previous night but the warm, personal welcome from Donald and the superb breakfast at beaches beat the hotel hands down.

The room was comfortable and clean, with an en-suite bathroom - no shower but plenty of hot water for the bath. Breakfast, served by Donald, was second to none.

Our family have been visiting this stunning area for the last thirty seven years and it never fails to impress. This was the first time we stayed at The Beaches, but we would have no hesitation in repeating the experience. If you're looking, for clean and comfortable without the frills, then I would recommend this B & B to you.

Four of us stayed in Alnmouth and on our last night 20th July we went to Beaches for a meal. Not a place to be missed we enjoyed the evening and food. Donald was the perfect host, and very warm and friendly. It was the first time two of us had visited the North East what a gem like going back in time but don't tell every one. We will be back.

Stayed at Beaches for a 3 day walking break in Northumberland and we (5 blokes) were well looked after by our hosts Donald and Susan. The rooms were a little outdated but clean and comfortable. Donald was very helpful with information about the area and Susan cooked an excellent breakfast and supper in their cosy Bistro, though I think at present the supper option is only available at weekends.
Would also recommend the Sun pub for food and also Bistro 23 looked good.

We stayed at Beaches recently for 3 nights whilst walking in the area and found the whole experience fantastic(apart from my snoring aparently ),the rooms were clean and breakfast was great just what we needed to start the day with plenty of choice from fresh fruit to full english. We also had 2 evening meals (you must book !) which again was very nice. This establishment is not four star but chock a block with character and Donald is a great host full of humour and local knowlege in what is a beautiful area we even had great weather ! Thanks for a great stay.

we were 5 middle aged men on a 3 day walking break.first impressions are like going back to the seventies.no shower, very dated furniture, but if you get over that donald and his wife are brilliant hosts.very good breakfast, which sets you up for agood days walking, and as a winter special we got 2 evening meals ,all for 100 pounds!maybe not the place if you are looking for a romantic break but for us it was perfect, many thanks.

We'd been hiking down the coast in heavy rain all day and were barely in the door when Donald offered to dry out our wet clothes. That set the tone for a wonderful stay. A delicious and reasonably priced dinner was followed by a full breakfast which set us up nicely for the next leg of our hike. Thoroughly recommended.

We stayed for 3 nights, a long weekend. It was our first trip to Alnmouth which has a wonderful beach and a good selection of places to eat and drink for a village, although you need to book tables because it's a popular destination. There are great walks to be had on this coast and it is all very dog friendly . Beaches is really nice and Donald made us feel very welcome. It is relaxed and informal. We shall be going back again.
