This is a gem of an English Village pub. It is set in glorious countryside in the Vale of the White Horse. The bedrooms are beautifully and tastefully decorated. The food is excellent and the welcome second to none.

Heartily recommended!

We wanted to spend few days in Oxford but couldn't find a well-reviewed, reasonably-priced hotel in the city so we started looking at places in the Oxfordshire countryside, and the Fox & Hounds at Uffington came out best.

The reviews were all accurate: it's lovely and good value. We stayed in room 1 and both the bedroom and the bathroom really were spacious. The B&B building is just 2 years old, and it was designed well and solidly built. For example, the lighting is excellent: somebody obviously thought about how people would want to use the room, so the lighting is versatile and practical. There are three mirrors, in the right places (you can sit at a big mirror with good light to dry your hair). The bathroom fittings are modern and very good. The bedroom is nicely furnished, the beds are very comfortable and the TV worked perfectly. These are all things some hotels and B&B's fall down on, but the Fox & Hounds got them right.

The owner was friendly and efficient, the breakfast was perfect (and eating it in the pub, looking out at the open countryside with the White Horse in the distance, made a lovely start to each day). The oriental food night on Tuesdays was fun.

We had a longish drive into Oxford each day (needed satnav for the villages) and paid an eye-watering £17.70 in the car park each time. But it was worth it to see the museums, botanical gardens, etc, while having such a lovely place to stay.

Room Tip: Room 1 is larger.

Only 2 rooms, but the one we had was spacious and totally comfortable. It is a very quiet village, worth a walk around in the evening. A great night in a quiet place, just lovely after the crazyness of Oxford in the middle of summer.

Read these reviews before we booked and was not disappointed. The rooms are new and massive. Normal pub B and B rooms can be old and cramped. These are Newley built separate from the pub with king size beds and loads of room. All mod cons and a big wet room with a brilliant power shower. Far superior than most hotels. Obviously the area is beautiful and uffington is a beautiful village in a beautiful area. The food was first class and plentiful and all the staff were down to earth friendly lovely people. My wife and I are in our fifties and travelled a fair bit so we know what's good and what's good value, this place is both. Really, it is that good and the staff that nice. Thanks for a great day and a great evening in the garden listening to very good acoustic guitar singer, we enjoyed it immensely. Rob and Lorraine

Room Tip: We stopped in no1 however they are all new and the same standard

We are absolutely delighted you had a lovely stay here. Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a complimentary review! I must point out to any review readers that the Room and en-suite the two of you had is extra-spacious to allow a wheelchair user and up to three people. It can also sleep a family of 4 or 5 (if one an infant) or 4 adults. Our other Room, finished to an equally high standard is not so huge - an ideal double/twin with space for an additional bed, and the shower/wetroom is not big enough for a wheelchair user! Hope to see you again sometime.

My son and I had just walked 30 km along The Ridgeway in the rain and we were most warmly welcomed and refreshed when we arrived. The very modern annex was perfectly clean and very comfortable. Dinner was excellent and a very substantial meal and breakfast was just what was needed before another day's walking.
As a beer lover, I must compliment Michael on his keeping and presentation of some excellent beverages!
