Looks unassuming from the outside but a lot of work has gone into making it very interesting. The lady receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful
We had been to Gairloch before and had not bothered to go past - we were the losers

This gem of a museum was very welcome on a wet day in Ullapool. Packed full of interesting information and staffed by a team of obviously devoted and very helpful and friendly volunteers. You can spend hours looking through the information gathered in this beautiful and historic building.

An excellent small museum detailing the history of Gairloch and the wider area. Well supported by local volunteers.

It was indeed a wet afternoon when we took a visitor to the area to the local museum in Gairloch. It is in a lovely old building and holds a lot of information, not just on the local area, but on the wider elements that have formed and informed Gairloch. This includes geology (Wester-ross has some of the oldest rocks in the world); archaeology (stone-age roundhouses abound around the coast); a mock up of part of a croft; light-house lamp and many local photographs and implements. It is small, but well laid out and has a small shop with useful and interesting leaflets/books, as well as carrying items for children.

Worth doing on more than a wet afternoon!
