“A Pleasant Morning Out”

Sealife Glass Bottom Boat Cruises
Ranked #3 of 5 Tours in Gairloch
Certificate of Excellence

This was an interesting morning out with a good well informed guide. Could have been better if more undersea creatures were to be seen but you obviously can't arrange wild life. Photographs on fliers tend to be a bit better than the reality observed. The kids on the trip had a wonderfull time.

We have visited Sealife before and enjoyed the Glass Bottom Boat Cruise, so on our return we booked a trip on Vision - a fast RIB which has been added to their fleet. Not only did we see the marine and bird wildlife, with the usual informative commentary, but we also got a fast trip further out in the loch. My husband got to take over the controls for some high speed manoeuvres. Very exhilarating! Beautiful views, friendly and enthusiastic staff, and even a warm drink on our return - excellent all round. Well done, Ric and Jill!

We stopped off at Gairloch last week whilst on a mini-honeymoon with the intention of doing the dolphin watching tour at the end of the harbour, however, due to unforeseen circumstances it was closed for a few days and we were unable to get out. We decided last minute, before leaving Gairloch to do the glass bottom boat tour and I'm so pleased we did. Jill couldn't have been lovelier in the office and told us all about the tour. We then went out to the boat to meet Rick the tour guide. We were provided with warm jackets, binoculars and a very interesting and funny tour guide. Don't expect to go out on this boat and see whales, sharks or walrus because that's not realistic. What you do get though is a very local, informative and fun experience, Rick was a wealth of knowledge and the 1.5 hours we were out flew past and the warm welcome return and hot chocolate provided by Jill was very appreciated. If you happen to stop by the beautiful village of Gairloch then please definitely take the glass bottom tour... you won't regret it!! Kat and Iain xxx

We'd enquired about trips earlier in the week & received an extremely friendly welcome from Jill (a Lancashire lass!) - but this was genuine friendliness, not a sales pitch. We went out an afternoon trip with Ric the skipper and were advised that if there was not much sealife on display, he would bring up items of interest to show us. We were provided with warm coats if required and plenty of binoculars for everyone on board. From the start we felt we were in safe, experienced hands and it felt like a relaxed outing with friends. Ric is obviously very knowledgeable and happy to share that with everyone, yet made it fun at the same time. It was a very enjoyable and informative trip - we managed to see cormorants, shags, oyster catchers, seals & learnt lots about different seaweeds (even tasted some!). A nice touch was that Ric gave a young lad chance to steer the boat back into the harbour - I'm sure something he'll remember for a long time. And after that great experience, back on dry land we were offered a hot drink by Jill who was happy to spend time chatting with us. Please please give this a try when you're in Gairloch, we thoroughly recommend it. And when we pay a return visit, we look forward to catching up with Jill & Ric again, lovely people.

This was a superb experience for us all. My 4 year old son was totally absorbed ticking all the amazing creatures off his chart that he saw through the glass-bottomed boat, and took his responsibilities steering the boat at the end, very seriously indeed! The adults loved the informative commentary and the utterly amazing views. The experience was professionally handled from beginning to end, and Richard was clearly very knowledgeable yet managed to be laid back at the same time. This was just what we were looking for and I think the organisers got it just right in this respect. I would have no hesitation recommending this trip to anyone with kids they would like to entertain whilst giving the adults a chance to relax and enjoy the ride too. Thanks to you both for a great trip.
