“Lovely West Highland Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 August 2013

Chose this hotel based on Tripadvisor reviews while looking for good quality accommodation in Gairloch.
The hotel is beautifully situated on the shore front with great views across the loch. The hotel takes advantage of the wonderful open views by utilising the frontage of the building to incorporate an excellent lounge bar and a separate dining room with great windows on to the bay. There is also a lovely conservatory with plenty of seating, again with wonderful views out to sea. The whole front of the hotel has a very relaxing feel and there is added seating outside on the lawn where you can sit at the outdoor tables with a drink.
The bedroom we booked was very clean with comfortable beds and nice touches of tea/coffee tray with good quality biscuits and nice toiletries in the bathroom. Good quality towels.
The biggest strength of this hotel is the staff. Everyone was most welcoming, especially the bar and restaurant staff. Absolutely faultless, and well trained.
Had a small problem with the dinner. Having had delicious soup lunch, something went wrong with one of our main courses! May have been a wee blip!
My other wee blip was the inability to connect to wi.fi. I had particularly selected this hotel because it had wi fi access. I had to seek out the password which was not offered at reception and despite being logged on there was no signal anywhere even though I was told it would be available in the reception area of the hotel. Was told the booster was removed from the first floor to downstairs but it didn't connect. Not a huge problem but needs to be sorted before you can advertise wi.fi as a hotel facility.
Would certainly recommend the hotel to anyone wanting to visit Gairloch for a short break.

We chose this hotel on the strength of other Tripsadvisor reviews and were not disappointed in the least. The room was very well equipped and maintained, with a wonderful view down the loch towards the Western Isles. We decided to eat our evening meal there and enjoyed lots of fresh, locally sourced food cooked imaginatively and well. Service was great, attentive and not at all pushy. Our only regret was that we only stayed a single night - but we will return.

Room Tip: Rooms on the sea side have better views, binoculars are provided and are a nice touch.

A lovely small hotel right on the bank of a beautiful bay in the quaintest of locations. Beautiful front sun room (depicted quite accurately in the hotel main photo), nicely appointed guest rooms and wonderful restaurant. The food was delicious and breakfasts were cooked to order. The staff were friendly and most helpful. All in all a great place to stay!

Room Tip: Ask for a front bay facing room.

The best hotel we stayed in on our tour of the west coast of Scotland, a gem of a hotel. The rooms were excellent and spotlessly clean; staff were all friendly and efficient; the food was excellent, no need to eat out! Views were super and there's plenty to do in the local vicinity (can recommend the glass bottom boat trip).

Room Tip: Sea view recommended

Could not fault this place - lovely room, huge! and so comfy. Fantastic bath/bathroom etc. View over to Skye was extraordinary as you would expect. Staff really went out of their ways to look after us- we arrived 10 mins after food service should have finished in the bar but they offered us a table and didn't even rush us to order. The food, again was better than anticipated - my husband's fillet steak for example was one of the best we've had but without being one of the most expensive... really impressed all round and cannot wait to come back!

Room Tip: Room 11 - amazing view, huge room, fantastic bath/bathroom

Stayed one night en route. £115 for 2 B&B for twin room with sea view.
Great location, overlooking water, great views. Room clean, not a bad size, decent bathroom, big easy chair in the room, TV pretty good & tea/coffee available. One particular mention is the beds.......fantastic, great mattress, not your usual mediocre bed, this was an absolute winner. If your travelling around its great to get a decent sleep.
Breakfast was very good, lots of variety & plentiful, no complaints there. We didn't try dinner at the hotel so can't comment.
Any staff we met were vey pleasant.
The only thing I would say that's a minor negative is that the communal areas could do with a lick of paint, they are a bit tired looking, chipped paint etc but appear clean. The conservatory entrance area is a lovely place to sit but there has obviously been a problem with water getting in at the roof & staining the wood.
Anyway, in one word it was "nice" so my star rating is between 3&4, I wouldn't say average nor would I say very good, I would say "good"
I would return here if simply to sleep in the bed again !

Room Tip: Get a sea view room. Make sure you get one with the really good mattress.

Nice friendly hotel. Comfy with very helpful staff. Clean and very good food. I will return. I was able to arrive late and online booking was easy as long as not requiring a single room. Views from front very good and all public areas nice and clean.

Room Tip: Sea view if you can get it
