“Cannot fault this place”

We stayed here for a weekend break with the kids. We found it very good value, and would rate it as the best campsite we've ever stayed in. We found ourselves a pitch overlooking the play area (and also helpfully catching a breeze which meant any midges were kept at bay!) with stunning views to the Minch and the Isles. The way the long grass is preserved around the pitches naturally separates tents out, so we really didn't feel like we had neighbours - and the way everything is so generously spaced out here adds to the feeling of privacy. The toilets and showers were quite new and were always immaculately clean, night and day, with lots of hot water, a free hairdryer, and straighteners for £1 if you felt the need!. The wash-up was good, no queueing, plenty of sockets for charging electricals, and it was a boon to have the kettle, microwave and hob available if need be. The play area is central and so much better than the usual boring fare - the kids spent literally hours in the old lifeboat and on the zipwire, or even just playing in the sandpits. Although I didn't see a single warden or "patrol" everything was clean and tidy, so they are obviously hard at work, but unobtrusively. The shop is excellent, better stocked than a supermarket - they have thought of everything! And the staff there were polite, efficient and friendly. The beach is amazing - clean, sheltered and quiet, with stunning views. I really can't think of a negative point. We will definitely back - we had our diaries out on the first night, planning our return!

Room Tip: Pitches in the dunes are more sheltered but the breeze helps ward off midges.

For a start, the location of this campsite is spectacular; with access to the beach, superb views and lots to do on the doorstep. The facilities are fantastic. The toilets have been renovated since we were last there and a warm shower is always welcome (especially in wet weather). Friendly staff, spotlessly clean facilities, a well stocked shop and the pretty cafe with the flowery roof are also part of the appeal. Genuinely can't find anything to grumble about.

Being pressed for time only having 3 days away we only stayed here for one night but could happily have spent a fortnight here. I would love to visit a campsite with better facilities than Sands. The toilet/shower blocks are immaculate and most certainly beat some hotels I've stayed in.
The washing up room comprises of sinks of course plus a fridge, freezer, kettle, microwave, cooking facilities and also a couple of leather sofas!
The campsite itself is equally impressive, set amongst the dunes of the beautiful west coast with plenty of tent pitches with plenty of space and close to bins/water/toilets etc.
We pitched our tent close to the road away from the sea which proved to be a blessing as we were away from the dreaded midges but you never know where they're going to attack!!!
I really can't recommend this place highly enough, if you're in the area then this is the only place to go.

This site was the highlight of our mini highland road trip. Very spacious pitches, close to the beach, well stocked shop, immaculate toilet/shower blocks and very quiet. It also has the added bonus of a lovely on site cafe. Will definitely be back.

We spent 2 weeks traveling around Scotland and Sands was our favourite. The facilities are very clean and there is a very good cafe on site which is a little bit more than you would normally pay but the food and service very good. They have a good onsite shop with a lot of everyday items that you can restock on if traveling. During our stay we lost our rental campervan keys and the staff went above and beyond to help us find them. We knew we had lost the keys somewhere on the beach and spent a day looking for them with lots of people from the campsite. Just as we were dispairing and looking at almost a £700GBP tow fee to Glasgow from the hire company and forfeiting our deposit on the campervan the manager sourced us a metal detector which he helped us use to find our keys in the sand dunes. They helped us so much beyond what you would expect and the staff routinely asked us if we had any joy finding our key. Whilst many people would rate a campsite on its facilities which in the case are very good we had the joy of getting to know the staff and they were amazingly helpful and jumped through hoops to help us. I would recommend a visit to this campsite!

This is a great seaside site, it was very quiet when we were there so we had loads of space not sure how that would pan out in high summer. The camp shop was well stocked and had a great selection of foods, magazines and activity items. There is a new cafe / restaurant on site which looked lovely but we didn't use it so can't comment on the food. The walk over the dunes to the beach is easy and rewarding. There were skylarks on the dunes and dunlin and curlews on the beach, and miles of sand looking out over to sky, just fab.
The facilities in the new toilet block were first class, there was even an indoor camp kitchen for tenter's with easy chairs and a microwave and kettle. Ideal for families and couples alike.
