The Affcot Lodge staff are wonderful and couldn't be friendlier. Nothing is too much trouble and they were all very welcoming. Breakfasts were good and we were offered more if we wanted seconds for a full cooked breakfast! The hotel is a pub too and our friends who live locally say the meals there are very good although we didn't try any. The location seems poor at first glance as it is right on the main road A49, but we found that an advantage as it was easy to find and easy to get to different places. The double glazing in the rooms meant that any noise from outside was blocked, so it was quiet at night. Rooms are very clean, not the height of luxury but the prices are so reasonable, it is definitely worth a stay. Very comfortable bed, good tea tray with biscuits too. We would go back without hesitation. We heartily recommend it.

We knew this pub as the "Traveler's Rest" from our many visits to the Shropshire area. We showed up for lunch one day and found the name had changed. Not only the name had changed but we were pleasantly surprised that the menu had many new things added and the atmosphere was friendly and pleasant. We ordered our meals and thoroughly enjoyed our food. The staff kept checking on us which was nice and replenish our drinks without us having to leave our food to do it ourselves. We really enjoyed our first visit under the Affcot Lodge name and went back several times during our months holiday and each time was just as enjoyable. Good value for money, pleasant atmosphere and staff and would definitely recommend to everyone wanting a good meal, in a friendly, clean atmosphere. We left each time feeling appreciated and welcomed.

An on-the-day booking and the staff both on the phone and in person could not have been anymore helpful or polite. I paid £50 for a room and was given sandwiches, crisps and water for lunch the next day as I would miss breakfast as leaving early. I could hear the person I'm the room above but let's be realistic- I paid £50 for bed and breakfast! Room was clean and bed decent if a tiny bit noisy. If you need an overnight stay this place offers excellent value for money and their biggest asset is the staff, they were lovely - thanks.

Location is certainly excellent for visiting rural Shropshire - it's right on the A49 just south of Church Stretton - and at £70 ensuite for two, including breakfast, it compares favourably with the more anodyne choices offered by the budget hotel groups. The public areas are a step-back-in-time experience for the older traveller as they seem like something out of the early 1970s, although this adds to the quirky nature of the place. Staff are very friendly too. I'd agree though with some reviewers' comments about the creaky floors and door banging as the bedrooms are not of the most robust construction, although they include all the facilites you would expect.

Comfortable accommodation, friendly and helpful staff and good food. Only slight downside are rather creaky floors in the bedrooms, but we still had good nights sleep on both occasions we've stayed here.

Stayed at Affcot Lodge as we were going to have dinner at the fabulous The White House across the road and did not want to drive home. The rooms were great and had everything we needed. The staff were what made this Lodge as they were welcoming and so cheerful. Would definitely stay here again when we go for dinner at The WhitebHouse

I booked rooms at Affcot Lodge in Oct - Nov 2013 and January 2014 for my team who were working nearby in Church Stretton.

I have had nothing but positive feedback from my colleagues about the accommodation, food and hospitality provided and would highly recommend this hotel.

Wendy and the Affcot Lodge staff are a truly fantastic group of people to deal with and made the whole experience so easy and stress free.

Thank you Wendy and I hope to deal with you again soon!
