Description: The Pound at Leebotwood is a 15th century thatched country pub and restaurant, situated in the heart of rural picturesque Shropshire countryside and is run by Neil & Sarah McCann. Our menu offers dishes created from fresh local ingredients, we use local and artisan suppliers, within a 30 mile radius where possible. Neil changes the menus in tune with the seasons, so there will always be something new on the menu. We offer a classic Sunday lunch menu every week, always serving three roasts along with elements of our menu to suit all tastes and appetites.

We visited 'The Pound' for lunch today. The food was all home cooked, from fresh and was delicious! My husband had the local sausages and mash which was served with a rich onion gravy and freshly cooked veg. I had the goats cheese and melon which was beautifully presented and also delicious. The homemade ginger cake with toffee sauce was excellent. Would recommend this restaurant for good quality food and excellent service.

“Bit of umph needed!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 May 2014

We have eaten at The Pound many times as its local to us, but oh we feel so dispirited by it these days! The food is good and well cooked, and I know the ingredients are mostly locally sourced but it feels a little like you're having your tea around at your aunties or Nan's house! all good ingredients, but lacking lustre and a bit of razzamatazz. It felt too quiet, with muzak on in the background and just one other elderly couple having their early evening meal. It made us want to get in the car and head for the much more lively Shrewsbury or Ludlow to see if we could find some fun atmosphere.Nice food, but DULL!

Pity it was empty when we went but I can think of no reason why at all. It was a rainy day at the end of the month....

Great veggie option, lovely pud. Very friendly service. Really nicely done up with intersting artwork on the walls (some for sale).

“Not for a special occasion”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2014

This Inn was recommended by the guest house owner as meeting all the criteria for a special night out, however perhaps this was just not the right evening. Although arriving around 7.00 p.m. there were some diners already seated in an expansive dining area that looked extremely clinical, and so it was to stay. perhaps the limited number of diners should have informed us that this was not the best choice, especially compared to other pubs in the surrounding area. The limited menu was relatively expensive, although on receipt it was well served and presented. I had the large beer flavoured battered haddock served with mashed peas and limited vegetables and my wife the sausages and mash that she thought was just acceptable. desert was the apple crumble.
