Varied menu and gorgeous food... you need to book in advance as the pub is frequented by locals and tourists!

“Great food everytime.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 April 2014

We have visited the Royal Oak on several occasions and have always had a great meal, including one memorable Xmas day, the kids still talk about the puddings now. This Easter Sunday our evening meal was no exception. We had 4x Sunday lunch and 1x duck with potato rosti and the meals were without exception gorgeous. Loads of really lovely veg tons on meat and two yorkshires all beautifully presented. Puddings were equally good and would not have been out of place in a high end restaurant in London. At the end of the meal the lovely chef came over for a chat and gave us all a cream egg which the kids just loved, it was a thoughtful touch. Other things I love about this place, dogs are welcome (big plus), they will try and do a child portion of anything on the menu for you if it is feasible, the real ale is fantastic and always changing and the last but not least the people are lovely - good with the kids and the dogs too! We always enjoy eating here and it's also a great place to just pop in for a drink.

“Enjoyable stay and meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 April 2014

We stayed here as part of walking the Devon Coast to Coast. The rooms were very comfy and clean with decent bathrooms (with bath / shower). The staff were very helpful and even booked us a table in advance as it was busy. The evening meal in the bar was pretty tasty and the breakfast was good too.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend or return.

“Great meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 April 2014

Living fairly locally we had heard that the Royal Oak served nice and food and wow, they certainly do! Good choice, fairly priced and cooked to perfection. The people serving were busy, but very efficient and welcoming. Best meal we have had in ages! Not too sure if someone with limited mobility might find some of the access a little difficult, I think it might be wise to check before taking a person who uses a wheelchair for a meal here -there may of course be a back or side entrance which I didnt see.
