“Gourmet Eating”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

Excellent food, set in a great location overlooking the bay and Bristol Channel. We enjoyed the five course fish tasting menu, opted out of including the wines paired with each course though. Well presented food, great combinations with very good sized portions. Go with an appetite.

The staff were attentive and friendly. However, which is such a shame, there is just no ambiance, it appears very clinical, lunch or tea the surroundings would be acceptable but to create a fine dinning experience you must feel comfortable. Go for the food though.

“Not sure what they were trying to achieve”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

Went for a tasting menu at The Cafe. The food was excellent, but the actual place had no ambience or character to it.Was like someone had just put 4 tables in their front room and called it a restaurant

“Great food”
Reviewed 5 August 2014 via mobile

Took my elderly mother here with my daughter (20's) for an evening meal. They had just taken delivery of fresh local lobster which I wanted as a treat for my mum, she had the the lobster and crab salad while my daughter and I opted for the burger. We all enjoyed our food, compliments from mother for hers with the burgers being the best we've tasted by far! Warm welcome and attentive staff, will definitely be back and recommending the place. 10/10 :)

“Seafood tasting menu and overnight stay”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

We booked here following reading the good reviews and were not disappointed. We travelled from Hampshire for the week end with our dog and booked a table in the restaurant and overnight accommodation with breakfast. The setting on the shore is beautiful and tranquil, although a popular area. There are other restaurants and pubs close by, which may appear enticing but they can't beat The Cafe! After checking in we had a lovely afternoon strolling around the weir and coastal path, then had a couple of drinks overlooking the sea. The Cafe is a large detached Victorian house but has a small, friendly, intimate feel. The restaurant is in two sections with about four tables in each. Dogs aren't allowed in the restaurant (but can stay in the bedroom). My husband and I both chose the five course Seafood Tasting Menu for £35 per head. It was possibly the best meal we have ever had; every course was imaginative, beautifully presented and exceptionally delicious. I regret not taking any photos but it wasn't appropriate at the time! Our bedroom (Watersmeet) had a side sea view and although not luxurious, was large and comfortable and the shower room was spotlessly clean. The hot breakfast menu is varied and there is a self service table for fruit juices, cereals etc. The full English was perfectly cooked, not greasy, very appetising and huge.. In fact, the best we've ever had yet again!! Thanks for a wonderful stay Sarah and Andrew.. I must stop rambling now!
