We stayed overnight and had the Seafood Taster Menu on the Saturday evening.
The food was exquisite!!
Bedroom was comfortable and warm with a sea view.
Breakfast offered a huge choice & the Full English, which I didn't have, was equally huge but very inviting.
Both of us choose the porridge with Drambuie & glazed bananas. Absolutely scrumptious.
Looking forward to returning early next year.

The Cafe was booked as a birthday treat for my wife. On arrival we were given a very warm welcome and service was excellent throughout our short stay there. The room we had at the back of the hotel(I cannot remember the room name) was clean, comfortable and reasonably spacious. We had the 6 course seafood tasting menu which was superb - I am not really a 'fish' person, but I enjoyed every course. Breakfast was also very good. All-in-all a most enjoyable stay and dog friendly as well.

Room Tip: Ask for room with sea view

Had organised a party booking for 3 couples, but unfortunately one of the party was hospitalised, so in the end 4 of us went. Every bit as good as remembered from previous visits - great chef; lovely seafood tasting menu on 1st night, superb breakfasts both mornings; nice a la carte dinner 2nd night; very agreeable cream tea 2nd afternoon; agreeable staff. It's a not specially-sophisticated family-owned/run restaurant with rooms & not at all a 5-star corporate kind of place, thank goodness - down-to-earth & agreeable - & for us, importantly, dogs are welcome.

Porlock Weir is a bit quirky, but access to Exmoor is easy - especially via the £2 toll road behind the hotel, and Porlock itself is a very pleasant little town.

Will certainly return.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea-view room at the front - we stayed in Selworthy, with a 4-poster, 3-piece suite, wide...

We stayed for a one night break, having never been to the Porlock area before.
The area is very pretty, the style of the older houses and the small country lanes are great - good walking country.
The welcome at the Cafe was very warm, the location and views are also very nice.
The food was very good and the service could not have been better.
The room was spacious, clean and well equiped, it also had nice touches like a cafetiere in the room.
Critisisms (for the sake of balance) are few and minor - low water pressure gave a poor shower and a toilet that flushed quite badly.
I would happily recommend this as a place to stay.

Room Tip: We stayed in Allervale (that I believe is one of the smaller rooms) and it was still spacious and ve...

I booked this hotel with the strange name on booking.com and was not sure about the exact location, but it exceeded our expectations. We had a beautiful view over the bay and ocean (previously requested), and the staff (married couple who do most things there) were great. It is small but very friendly, with a bar and nice restaurant.
We were not expecting such great food, and had overeaten at lunch time, but the tasting menu looked delicious (others commented on the large size of the main dish). We had soup and shell fish, which were both excellent, with a nice bottle of wine.
I can't overrate this hotel enough as it great in every way - much better than other hotels we stayed in later!

Room Tip: Choose a room with views over the harbor and bay - it's worth the extra!

Great night's stay and supper after our first day's walk on the SWCP. Very friendly welcome. Big bedroom with nice sea views. Very comfortable lounge for pre-supper drinks and coffee afterwards. Cooking high quality. Delicious desserts. Highly recommended.
