Third visit and still a high standard, the welcome was good the food was excellent as was the ambience. We'll done the team at The Cafe. We liked the shoulder of lamb and my starter of fish terrine was excellent.

Other restaurants close by could benefit from your example.

This was our second visit to The Cafe. we returned because of the outstanding 5 course fish tasting menu we had earlier in the year. This time it was equally as good and the complimentary glass of prosecco included in the price was very welcome. the waitress was equally sweet and professional. We will definitely return soon jane and Barry.

My Hubby and I stayed a few years ago and had a much better experience. This time the reception was luke warm, we had to put the effort into make the reception actually bother to talk to us.
The room was dirty. Draws had dust and hair from previous guests! Yuck. Bed not comfortable and the pillows had seen better days - took the pillow slip off and it was disgusting. The bathroom had seen better days.... not clean. The poky bathroom window looked out at a back wall and over the kitchens?? Due to the sounds and smells!
The food was good, I would eat there again. Its not excellent. If you want anything extra like bread there is a charge!
We enjoyed our company and going away together but will not go back again - such a shame - will probably try the other hotels in Porlock.

Room Tip: ask for a room at the front of the hotel - not the one at the back!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 5-course seafood tasting menu, cooked to perfection and amazing presentation. The breakfast was relaxed and food excellent. Sarah and her staff were very friendly and attentive. The room was clean and very comfortable and we would stay there again.

If you ever want a wonderful relaxing break with super, super, food this is it. In fact I don't want too many of you there as it may interfere with my next visit to this lovely corner of beautiful England.
The staff were excellent and the waitress in the evening provided the sort of service that made the whole experience one of our most treasured.

If you miss this one you need your head tested! What a lovely break we had and the rooms so spacious

We stayed for a one night stay just to recharge our batteries and this fulfilled our expectations completely. Lovely old buillding, a warm welcome,a super room with a big 4 poster bed and jacuzzi bath.Huge windows and comfy chairs to sit in and admire the wonderful views.
The food was excellent and we enjoyed every mouthful of the tasting menu and the great breakfast.
A delightful place to stay with good walks and we're hoping to return in the Spring.

We stayed overnight and had the Seafood Taster Menu on the Saturday evening.
The food was exquisite!!
Bedroom was comfortable and warm with a sea view.
Breakfast offered a huge choice & the Full English, which I didn't have, was equally huge but very inviting.
Both of us choose the porridge with Drambuie & glazed bananas. Absolutely scrumptious.
Looking forward to returning early next year.
