Description: A 200 year old historic inn nestled in the heart of the wonderful Hampshire village of East Lavant, The Royal Oak restaurant, pub and rooms is renowned for its high quality food. Close to Goodwood Park and Chichester, The Royal Oak is very popular with those seeking a real taste of the British countryside in chic surroundings. Attractively appointed in keeping with the original old building but contemporary at the same time, The Royal Oak is comfortable and buzzy with warm service and an upbeat atmosphere. Offering English and modern European classics with a twist, The Royal Oaks menu includes both main meals and light bar snacks, all made using local, seasonal ingredients.

My girlfriend and I have eaten at The Royal Oak 5 or 6 times during our several visits and 2 or 3 stays and, in our view, the cooking yesterday lunchtime (10/04/11) was better than ever. All of our 4 meals were cooked and presented to perfection and, as we were entertaining friends (and friends who are serious bon viveurs at that), this was especially important to us. Our friends were delighted with their visit and very impressed with the operation. So, our compliments to the team in the kitchen for the excellent cooking and to our friendly and attentive waitresses for the individual attention that they gave us. Keep up the good work! The Signature bitter was well-kept too. We’re planning to see you again soon.

The royal Oak Formaly a pub , But now restaurant serving the most lovely food . Free to start wonderful olive's and selection of Bread's with french unsalted butter , so good .
And then onto starter's offering about six on the main menu and another three on the special board . i had lovely fresh fried white bait , i know that's bit 80's but it was excellent . To follow again main menu or specail board choice , i had fillet ,not the cheapest but 2nd best i've ever had ,served with red wine jus and dauphinoise poatoes, unfortuantly i never made desserts ,no room left !
Also if you can afford it stay the night the bedrooms are pure luxury and the breakfast well what can i say but excellent , cereal yougurts juice egg, bacon the works !

On ringing to speakto the owner regarding an overnight stay I was confronted with an agitated man who demanded to know why I could not have spoken with one of his colleague. As I had spoken to two of his colleagues earlier and both had asked me to ring again to speak to the owner in person I felt the need to change my mind about the booking and terminated the phone call.
