“Great Setting, wonderful restaurant”
Reviewed 22 July 2012

We have stayed at Ockenden Manor once before and this stay was again very pleasant. The setting is lovely, staff are attentive without being over bearing and the restaurant is exceptional.

Our daughter Laura`s Wedding Reception took place in the grounds and reception rooms . The garden setting with its full length terrace is suberb with views over Sussex countryside.
We were due to have a barbeque reception in the garden but the weather failed to perform. Inspite of this the food was barbequed in house and was suberb and all the staff at Ockenden with our wedding co-ordinator Becky Williams worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the day .
Many thanks and throroughly recommended for an informal wedding carried out with expertise and professionalism.

Room Tip: Speak with Reception as it will depend on your preference for rooms in the original part of the Man...

It's been a month since we stayed here and I am still dreaming of the spa. Certainly the best spa complex I have been to, I'm slightly saddened that the bar has been set so high and it will take a lot to beat in future hotel adventures.

The excellence of the leisure facilities makes up for any shortcomings in the hotel itself. The room we had was excellent - period, with a four poster bed and a charming bathroom that looked out across the fields. Some of the other rooms may be less characterful. The house had an odd layout where it felt like you were quite often 'backstage' in the staff quarters. Perhaps some improvements could be made there but it's an old house and allowances should be made for quirkiness!

Go for the spa. It really is beautiful.

My husband and I stayed for two nights for my birthday. We stayed in Per and I can only say that the room was 5* quality as was the spa. The room and bed were large and comfortable, the bathroom was well set out with good quality fittings.
The Spa was bright, clean, comfortable and the treatments were excellent. Very very relaxing!!
Both nights we ate in the restaurant and were impressed with the qulity of the food, the service and attitude of the staff. We would definately recommend the tasting menu - the lamb was to die for.
Everyone in the Spa and the main hotel were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. We will definately have a return visit and tell all our friends.

My husband and I booked a romantic night away with the sole purpose of relaxing. We got a great deal on the spa room, dinner and a treatment as part of their Sunday night deals.

Would definitely recommend staying in the spa suites as they are brand new, spacious, extremely nice and in the spa which makes it easy to go from your room to spa facilities. The whole spa building is new and has nice facilities. We had several treatments which were all nice. Unless you are in a spa suite you will not be in the building where the spa facilities are.

The meals were odd. Very quiet, uncomfortably so and the food was not great. If I were to go back I would stay in the spa room and order room service or go out to one of the local pubs.

Room Tip: Spa suite is a must

A wonderful two days spent in the spa. Enjoyed the most amazing 85 min full body massage and REN facial with Jenny.
Lunch inthe spa is very yummy paninis and endless tea and coffee. My fav was the urns with mint and lime for water. Brilliant!
The gym is fab- could do with some music on low. Great range of machines.
Pool was AWESOME.
The food at the hotel was 5* had the set menu of asparagus soup and gnocchi. Petit fours were stunning. The staff are wondeful with exceptional high standards.
The beds are lush and towels/ shower products are so yummy that my hair still feels nice.
Really good value and I would stay again and for longer.
Really easy to get to and parking is fab.
Gym instructors are gorgeous!!!!

I have just spent my birthday at Ockenden Manor and could not disagree more with the previous reviewer regarding service. My husband and I were really impressed with all the staff, including the General Manager who gave us a really warm welcome.
Our room (Linus) - one of the Spa Suites was amazing! Very comfy bed, excellent bathroom (with a bath big enough for 2!) and a superb view, despite the rain. Can honestly say the best nights sleep I've had in ages - partly due to the gorgeous aroma's from the spa! The receptionist at the Spa was really helpful, very smiley and attentive.
The bar and restaurant staff are a credit to the hotel - All were happy, totally professional and couldn't do enough for us. We had our pre-dinner drinks in the lounge with canapes and it was just lovely to sit and relax without feeling rushed. Dinner itself was truly outstanding, and the atmosphere was buzzy but chilled out. Again, the service was perfect and attentive with the right amount of time between each course.
Breakfast, served until 10 on a Saturday so a much needed lie-in was had, was lovely - again, prompt and efficient service with perky staff which brightened up the very dull day outside.
Thank you to all at Ockenden Manor for making my birthday a real treat!
