I'm a big fan of The Rising Sun. It's location takes some beating and the food has always been good. But hadn't been for a couple of years due to illness. But visited twice in two days with different friends.

The first visit was at lunch time. We sat in the garden on a warm day. I just had a baguette with chips. My friend had a burger. We both enjoyed our food.

Then back two days later with different friends in the evening. We sat in the conservatory. We all opted for burgers. Delicious. We went for pudding. Sticky toffee pudding on a warm evening was a brave choice but the pudding was really light.

Since my last visit I think it has changed hands. But the "new" people are doing a good job.

When we visited the Rising Sun for the first time last week it was an absolute delight inside and out. The gardens had lots of colourful spring flowers and a blanket of beautiful primroses. Inside the decor is archetypal English Country pub with two lovely log fires. The service was excellent, the menu choices and daily specials were just right for our needs and the food was delicious, generous and reasonably priced. This is set to become one of our favourites in summer - when we can take advantage of the fabulous views, and in the winter when we’ll be looking for a cozy country retreat. Highly recommended.

last minute decision to go out for Sunday Lunch late Sunday afternoon. Ordered our 4 meals and all 4 were very poor. It was clearly obvious that everything was kept warm from lunchtime. If we were expected to pay the full price then I EXPECT the meal to be the same quality as it probably was at lunchtime. All the vegetables were limp , the cauliflower was limp but blackened on one side indicating it was being kept hot and had burnt, the meat (which I didn't have ) was described as dry and tough. May be at lunchtime it was a different story but if you serve until 4pm then it is expected that you serve a quality meal throughout the serving time or reduce the price to reflect the quality.
