We visited Lacock Abbey in December, so we were able to enjoy this beautiful abbey when it was tastefully decorated for Christmas. There was a community Christmas tree display in the abbey cloisters and a huge roaring fire in another part of the abbey. The photography museum is interesting, giving you an insight in to the history of Lacock’s former residents, but also featuring a series of different exhibitions (at this time it was First Women UK). Another highlight as with most National Trust properties is the Courtyard Cafe. Delicious cakes and light lunches are available with tea, coffee and other light refreshments. Don’t forget to take a stroll through the gardens and the rest of the beautifully kept Lacock Village - it’s picture perfect on a dry day and full of quirky shops.

The abbey is a must for Harry Potter fans of course, & it is nice to be able to walk among the beautiful arches in the cloister. Grounds are attractive & not too large. The village of Lacock is directly adjoining the abbey grounds & is also quick & easy to explore on foot. There are some quaint shops & dining options. Very pedestrian-friendly. It can all be done in less than 4 hours. Short walk from the car park, but have coins ready.

I’ve just visited here as part of my birthday event. It’s a fascinating old building with great history and beautiful grounds a must see as part of my trip to this village. The great hall all trimmed up for Christmas was particularly special.

On this occasion he main part of the house was closed for refurbishment but we enjoyed the gardens and the cloisters. The Abbey is set in lovely grounds by the river, and there are numerous walks you can take through the area round the charming Lacock village.
