Had a lovely lunch here recently, but being a very hot day it was impossible to sit inside under all that glass !!! Fortunately we managed to find a table outside under a huge umbrella.
Nice touches like big jugs of iced water with lemon offerred free of charge !
I had the Brie and Asparagus Quiche which came with salad and 2 additional salads,I had apple/orange and beetoot and coleslaw both delicious, it also came with new potatoes. £7.50, very good value when you think the sandwiches were about £3.50. Jacket potatoes also on offer and loads of desserts etc. Service was quick and efficient.

We popped into whitehall to pick up some plants for our garden we are redeveloping at the moment and whilst there saw that the afternoon tea for two was only £16.99. We thought we'd treat ourselves especially as it looked so delicious. We were not disappointed. Service was quick and although the lady on the till was a trainee she was very polite and served us efficiently.

The afternoon tea was delicious, we had a selection of sandwiches - salmon, egg, cream / cucumber, ham & pickle which also came with a mini salad. The egg was particularly delicious - some of the best I've had even in some top priced hotels. We also had fresh scones, jam and cream. Along with a selection of cakes (all very good size) so much so we had to take some home. The carrot cake, fruit cake, cup cake, mini flapjack and fruit tartlets were exceptional. It was lovely to sit outside and enjoy our afternoon tea in such beautiful surroundings.

We would definitely make a return visit to the restaurant and would have no hesitation at all in recommending to friends either.

FISH NIGHT. If you wan't to eat in a canteen. On tables with no cloths. Chairs with no cushions.
The Fish (salmon) with wine sauce was nice, but the veg was shown the boiling water as was the hard new potatoes.
If you want to entice people to eat at your place in the evening (5.30pm onwards) the tart it up a bit at least and cook the veg a little longer.

Sorry Whitehall your food is not good unless your used to visiting truck stops staff are miserable and unenthusiastic lacks of organisation poor standards all round ... Not a pleasant experience and to be avoided there are so many more lovely places around to go to far better quality food with much happier staff not far away ...not sure about the hygiene standards either the toilets are poor .
