“Location, Atmosphere & Staff make this place”
Reviewed 31 May 2014

This was a great location - and despite some negative things below - the positives make up for them!!
Don't expect a hotel - it is an inn... good food, and hearty breakfast and plenty of choice from the bar!
You will not get an amazing room - ours was not perfectly clean, the kettle was still full of old water, the water would not heat up for a bath, squeaky floorboards in the corridors and loud doors are going to let you get an early nights sleep, and outside grease running down the wall below the kitchen extractor fan was not pretty.
Also the cost is a little high for the rooms - though understandable due to the location.

But the views - out of most rooms is amazing! And step outside for a 360' panorama!
The atmosphere in the bar in the evenings - is not like any other hotel.
And the staff are so enthusiastic and friendly - at any time of the day.

The negatives almost add to the character of the place for me - if it was perfect it would not have the same atmosphere!
Likely to visit again - thanks for the stay.

Great atmosphere in the bar, great range of beers and great breakfast. Other meals expensive for what you get but overall a good experience. Rooms bit tired but clean and functional. Quite a lot of noise from other guests with doors slamming and loud conversations very early in a morning. Overall though, can forgive the failings for such a unique setting with lovely staff.

The location is perfect and there is nowhere quite like it.....You will hear all nationalities here and there is an air of camaraderie between walkers and climbers.
A menu of over 200 whiskies. Great beer. Good wholesome food. Nice staff.
Okay so its not The Ritz, but who cares when the view from the room is an awe inspiring mountain?
Love it and will definitely be back.

This place is located in a wonderful valley with impressively big hills around you. We arrived at night quite tired. My first reaction was that it looked like a cul de sac but this is just the cabin layout of the place. I couldn't tell whether it had been recently fitted out but badly or whether it was just a bit tired. I can't stand places where they leave the condiments on the bar tables so that the entire place smells of vinegar and where the tables have a sticky feel to them. That said, the service was excellent. The staff are very friendly and incredibly helpful beyond what I have experienced in far more expensive places. Food is basic hearty grub. The showers work well and beds are comfortable. It is really a base for sporting activities and is OK as such. If you are after chic and boutique, this is not the place. My advice to the owners - clean the tables better, make sure the condiments are off them and hidden away, clean the grease stain off the outside wall below the extractor fan and maybe spend a bit on systematically improving the decor. With some care and money, it could be an absolutely amazing place.

We didn't stay here but found the meals huge, good value and very tasty. We nervously tried the haggis and were very pleasantly surprised. Though very busy on a holiday Saturday we found the staff friendly and the food arrived quickly.

This is a fairly dated hotel but due to the large number of hikers who come to Glencoe, it is quite a busy place.

The beds were OK.

There was no air conditioning but the windows opened quite widely which made it comfortable.

The bathroom was OK and worked well.

The dining room was busy and there was not a wide selection of food, but what they served was good quality.

Internet was abysmal; I was only able to log in early in the am when not many others were logged in.

The bar is active so expect to hear the bar patrons up past midnight should your room be near the bar.

There are not many places to stay in Glencoe, if you want a social place this is a good place to stop.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms near the bar
